Default 9psi, 100 octane fuel, and a stock block?

I am looking for input here, do you guys think a stock motor, greddy TT kit, emanage ultimate, HKS Ti exhaust, etc. would hold an occaional 9psi of boost with 100 octane fuel and a GOOD tune? i was thinking about this and it should produce about 475whp (20in J-Lines). Whats your input, give it a shot or You'll blow your motor for sure!

Thanks!

easy if you tune it right. ran my car like that for about 10,000 miles. Only it wasnt an occasional 9 psi. It was 9 psi 20-40 times a day.

It is not the turbo kit that blows your motor it is the tune......

Not always...Watch them boost spikes!! Very important you have the proper wastegates also. If your tuned for 8-9 psi and the wastegate spikes to 12-15 psi, your not going to be a happy camper.

Are you taking a jab at my particular kit or was that a general statement?

Any turbo kit will do that, it just so hapens there is one manufacturer that adressed this problem prior to releasing their kit.

My kit is easily visible in my sig. Either way I am not paranoid just asking a question. BTW, I have yet to see, "All these Greddy owners that claim 600whp." Can you reference me some threads?

So you are saying that Phunk's numbers are fluffed? As far as Goindeep you must be referring to the dyno he posted with corrected numbers (for altitude), if so, 1 person is a far cry from "All these greddy owners claiming 600whp."

Please show me where I said Phunks Numbers were "FLUFFED"? Your putting YOUR words in MY mouth now.You the one accusing APS owners of "FLUFFING" numbers, and I could go back and start quoting threads if you would like to continue this silly game... I simply said there have not yet been any monsterous numbers from APS owners yet as there have been from Greddy owners, if you interperet that as me saying Phunk "FLUFFED" his numbers then you are WRONG pal.. As for Goingdeep, aka Ernie, I hepled him build his motor and I know what it makes and I know what it does on the 1/4 mile, I am not saying he fluffed his numbers either, you are..

By using the word claim you are impleying you don't believe the numbers. Then in this thread I asked you for links to threads where all these greddy owners are making these claims and you reference Phunk and Ernie. If I misunderstood then what can I say?

i have a question - if you guys are boosting to 9 psi - what hp should you be making? will it be the same as if someone was boosting under a supercharger?

XBS, 9psi with stock timing advance and 100 octane fuel should get you near 450whp or so. Each car and tune is going to be a little bit different, so I wouldnt set the goal at 475whp...thats a high side estimate. But yes.....people run stock timing advance on 100 octane all the time....you thinking of doing it.

100 octane in Los Angeles was about $5.50 a gallon when before I moved to Charlotte. I imagine it is well into the $6.00/gallon range now....

I am saying the Tial wastegates that come with the Greddy are VERY good. The problem with boost control is that it is usually easier to control large amounts of boost, 15-25 psi for example, than it is to control small amounts of boost like 7-9 psi. At least these have been my observations in the past.

With the stock wastegates set at roughly 5.6psi, controlling boost to 9psi will be no problem at all. You might get a momentary spike to 9.5psi or so when you first nail the throttle, but that's about it.

That momentary spike is all you need to blow up.

Half of a PSI spike is going to blow up a motor...never heard of this. Besides...when you first nail the gas the car will be extremely rich for a split second anyway as the injectors kick in well before boost is actually made.

I've never heard of ANY turbocharged Z's having boost creep issues. Stuff like that happens when you have an oversized turbo and an undersized wastegate..which is not the case with any of the kits for the Z out there.
