Default JWT TT Update

well, this is what was posted on 8/5 on the JWT site, I figured I post it here...

350Z TWIN TURBO KIT UPDATE Date:8/5/2005

The latest on the JWT 350Z/G35 Turbo Systems:

JWT continues working towards achieving what no other company has done, CARB certification of a turbo system for the 350Z and G35. As this work progresses we have not ignored the rest of the world in showing off the new Twin Turbo Systems. Both Sport Z Magazine and Road & Track Speed invited us to put our new TT System to a shoot out with all of the other Z/G turbo and supercharger systems.

I was thinking about that the other day, they are missing out on the market persay.

Tuner version would have been cool, anyway I do respect them staying by their word

I think I first heard of this TT about 1.5 years ago - sound right? Almost as mythical as that SC that doesn't exist and won't be named.

Does anybody know if changes can be made to the JWT kit? Like adding injectors? I know JWT usually releases something, then waits awhile and releases updgrades for it. I'm holding out for this kit but I'm wondering what upgrades should be done later on. I'm not looking to go all out with a 600whp car so maybe keeping the stock injectors like they do is enough for me? I've heard people saying that turning up the pressure on the stock injectors isn't a good idea and won't last for a long time. Can anybody chime in on this? Also, would it be possible to take out their bypass valves and put on a blowoff valve? I read that Jim said they chose the bypass valve because it keeps a more constant AFR. What do you guys think about changing that for a bov? Will it screw things up?

I do like that they are standing by their word.
I know I will have to drop quite a bit again to get the APS upgradeded once they get CARB, with the JWT you'll don't have to worry about it. I still love my APS though

Doing any of this will certainly void your SMOG cert. You might as well just buy the APS or twin 60-1 kit if you're planning on tinkering with the setup.

By smog you mean CARB? I'm in NY. The reason why I don't want to go with APS is because I wanted the dual intercoolers that JWT has, plus I have a bunch of friends with Nissan's and JWT is the name that goes hand in hand with Nissan. I know APS has an awesome kit, but I think JWT might have gotten their kit to run a little smoother. I've heard a lot of APS people saying their car runs and idles a lot rougher now. But those could just be APS bashers. Anyway, back to my original questions. If the CARB cert didn't matter, can these changes be made to the kit? Would additional tuning have to be done after swapping the bypass valves for a bov? Can Phunk or Sharif comment on this at all?

No I don't think JWT will be adding bigger injectors as this would take away from the CARB legality. CARB stipulates that you must use stock injectors in the stock location to pass. You can however use subinjectors. I'm sure JWT can do whatever you want if you call them and ask.

I hear you....it would be nice to have one but honestly I don't think I've owned a car in the last 6 years that was....Theres just so much needed to get a CARB cert it makes it damn near impossible. You have to retain the stock cats in the stock location (massive power killer), stock injectors in the stock location (also power killer after a certain point), plus they have to see any timing or fuel trim changes, etc..what a pain...

I mean basically he'll start selling the kits without a CARB EO and calling them tuner kits until he actually gets the CARB cert. Something to that effect.

Oops, yeah I meant CARB, just typed it out without thinking... And yeah, I was referring to the injector issue.

Not to belabor a minor point, but I still don't understand why selling without a CARB# makes it a "tuner kit". It's the same kit, anyone can buy it, so why is it a "tuner kit". Will they only sell it through certain tuning shops?

by calling it a tuner kit they are handing over legal responsibilities to the Tuner who then installs it, since they are practically not allowed to sell anything that is not CARB approved...Kinda the same as when other say "Off Road Use Only"

CYA that's all

I'm really getting sick of waiting for JWT now. I just called them again today and once again they pushed the date back. They told me it will be a couple of more months. They said call back in late September and they will see if they have an update. I asked about the tuner kit and Ben said that it is true that they will release a tuner kit for people that are not worried about CARB but he said that kit will be released around the same time as the CARB one. I don't get it? I thought the whole purpose to release the tuner kit is so we don't have to wait for the CARB exemption to come back???
