Please everyone, continue this argument over PM. No one cares!!!! You only learn how to go fast with experience. It is not uncommon for a car faster than 12.0 on DR's to "skate" around the track. Who cares about the front tires. Argue to each other over PM's you'll get way more out of the conversation that way.

your saying a drag setup is going to help improve handling. thats like saying ( since i drift ) i choose my rear tires so i can see as much rear traction as possible. its completely against the point of that type of motorsport. everything is a tradeoff when building a car for a very specific type of racing, and running a tiny tire up front in a questionable tread compound doesn't sound like someones idea of increasing traction. they are running tiny tires to reduce the mass of the tire/wheel assembly, so they have a better power/weight ratio. look at the highest forms of drag racing, they run tires only a few inches wide. they barely steer at all. if they keep moving in that direction, they will soon put train tracks down the 1/4 so people won't have to put a steering rack, steering wheel, or anything else in their car to cut weight. they woundn't even have rubber tires, and the wheels could be 10 inches tall or smaller. i think i'm on to something : )

hmmh train tracks....
Speedzone has their "top fuel dragsters" running on train tracks...lots of fun

Every application has it's own setup, you wouldn't want to go drifting on Slicks would you?
Drag racing is all about staying in the groove going straight, you need tires that help you accomplish that...and if you check out the pros you'll see they all have race tires front and back NO street tires.

Mostly because there are not production street tires that fit the size tires they run(for the lightweight wheels). If steering were that much of a problem they would put wide tires on the front. Come on already. Go to a drag race forum and get your answers there.

I just now saw your post...

This is not to argue, this is to help us all find the best solution on how to get better results at the track.

This is my last post on this subject, I didn't bring up the slick issue to **** anyone off, just to throw out that if you go as far as gutting your interior you might as well remove the heavy 19" streets tires and replace them with the proper tires/wheels for the job.
Sorry if I offended or bored anyone

strictly for the ability to fully rotate the tires every 5000 miles.

Performance Motorsport does NOT run SLICKS on the rear or front.

FYI

BF Goodrich DOT Approved Drag RADIALS on back and M&T Front Runners on the front (in the picture) we now run BF Goodrich Comp TA's on the front..

The rears are street legal (kinda) tires.

congrats on the great run in your G!

You can call me a troll when A) I'm no longer a moderator of the forum, and B) you break 3000 posts like me, ok? Discussions arise out of posts like this, it's inevitable, no need for name calling.
