Default Eagle H-Beam Rods

Has anyone purchased the VQ35 Eagle H-Beam 4340 forged rods yet?

They are going for around $550-600.

Just want to know if any work is required to be done to the rods before they can be put in the motor?

Thanks
Murray

Eagle has been in business for a long time, they are very popular with the Honda guys. Rods are rods, I can't imagine that they would be any less on a VQ... I am sure they are fine, if your tune is right, I doubt you'd have a problem.

I have run them in 500 whp civic's before with no issues. They have usually been the only parts that have made it out of an engine alive.

Hey bro, Eagle rods are pretty descent. In the last couple of years they've found a demand in the import market yet have tried to keep their prices as close to the domestic market (SBC and BBC) as possible unlike other manufactures that tend to price gouge us import folks. Example, you can buy 8 billet rods able to handle upwards of 800-900 HP for a small block chevy or ford for around $600 bucks if you look hard enough. Buy the same rods, but only 6, for a VQ or 2JZ and you'll spend $1100.

Not sure where you heard this, but there are hundreds of turbo honda applications running these with well over 100hp per cylinder. They're generally proven to be good for 150hp per cylinder.

Eagle rods are strong enough to hold 850 hp in the 300zx. Eagle rod for VQ35 weigh 550 grams each while Pauter weigh 654 grams. Pauter is 19% heavier and this is the moving part. Eagles also half the price. Even at the same price I shall use Eagles.

We sell them for $580 shipped. The reason I recommend Pauter is I have used them in a few build-ups, and we've sold about 80 sets without even one failure.

I need a bit more experience with the Eagle rods on the VQ before I can recommend them as strongly. The cost difference is becuase the Eagle rods are made in China, and then fitted and packaged here in the USA. Thing I need to know, are how tight are the variances between rods, is additional machinging or fitting required, etc..etc. This is very common with a lot of rod manufacturers. Pauter rods are perfect, and that is why we use them.

We have ran them in many Hondas here, I have one car making over 450hp with eagle rods, and I also have eagle rods in my Honda and it should easily make 400hp. Eagle had some problems in the past because rod bolts where breaking, but with in the past two years or so they have switch over to ARP and honestly I have not seen a problem sense, I can have some here in like 7-10 days hit me up if you want any pricing.
