Default Feed back wanted - Twin Turbo Tuner System

Hi Guys, this was posted on another Z car forum (see link below) and I would really appreciate some feed back from this Z community as to your wants and needs from a ''tuner'' twin turbo system.

Thanks in advance.

James

I would recommend the kit.....especially with the new e-manage ultimate, TurobXS UTEC, etc. being released there are many more options to use. With the success of the APS TT for not blowing up motors I think APS's reputation for knowing how to tune a kit will be safe. We all know how quality the parts for the kit are it is just the lack of tuners for the Unichip across North America at this point that is the main drawback. I think the kits would sell....and sell well.

very interesting.. especially for people that may have an EU or UTEC tuned for NA already plugged in that now are ready to go FI.

There are also people that may be switching from a supercharger application to ST or TT and already have a return fuel system and pump.

As soon as APS start sellings tuner kits you will start to see motors go. APS' sucess with not blowing motor IMO is due to the fact they send you safe tune with the kit (not tinkerable by anyone unless they are an authorized Unichip facility).

Apparently Peter feels the same way.

Yeah, a "tuner" kit would probably ruin APS` reputation for safety. While you may sell more kits initially by offering a tuner kit, in the long run it'll probably backfire and cost sales overall.

I think you should stick with comprehensive kits, but add more dealers (especially one in Florida). Also, offering upgrade packages for each kit would be nice.

I would highly endorse the tuner kit strategy. I get this request from customers nearly every single day.

I agree that the vast majority of customers will be best served by the complete kit, there are small minority of users that prefer a tuner kit, and the ability to develop their own fuel, and enginment management strategy.

I hope this comes to light!

If someone buys a tuner kit and blows their motor then they need to take full responsibility.

Absolutely correct. I think people need to take responsiblity no matter what kit they own. Even if a full APS kit blows a motor, I dont blame that on APS. There is no blame...things can break even with a perfect tune, especialliy when pushing a stock motor to nearly twice its stock level. Throw in the occasional bad tank of gas, high ambient temps, bad cooling system purging..etc..etc...and things can go bad.

How about some actuators with that tuner kit.

Well....yeah....of course. What I am saying is that APS can and have done it right with their kit already. They can comfortably go forward now with the tuner kit because they no longer need to prove themselves.

That would be a great optional item for the tuner kit. Either the 6lb actuators, or the 12lb.

Yeah, a twin turbo that can make more then 12lbs of boost would definately be nice...

When I had my APS installed I stuck with my own fuel system (from my supercharger). Besides the injectors supplied by APS I don't believe we used anything else.

Selling the kit without the Unicheap would be really nice, as its an expensive piece and adds a TON of frustration to my setup.

I think it's a great idea as well

back when I was going to buy the APS kit, I didn't really want to get stuck using the unichip and have the kit be neutered to only do 12psi at best.

So how much would it sell for if the regular kit sells for around $7500, say 5500-6000? If I was going turbo, that or the JWT kit would be the kit I'd get

I like how well thought out the APS kit is and how the turbos are the latest type out there.

The greddy kit, I dunno just left a bad impression on me after seeing how you have to remove the bumper brace and how many engines it's blown etc.

Well, that pretty much settles it then. Go ahead with the tuner kit, APS

Oh, and start selling heavier actuators. Just think, that $180 for my set could've gone to you!

Its running well, so far. I have about 600 miles on the new motor. I'm currently trying to schedule time to have the head bolts retorqued, the wastegates replaced (no idea where to source them yet though) and have it all dyno tuned!

Other then that, I get a few SES lights from time to time rangine from misfires, to CAN comm issues, to EVAP leaks, but nothing too major considering A. I changed a lot and B. its still untuned.

Where can we get new actuators from?
I know a few people on the boards have them uprgaded.
I want to install them now & set the boost low(12lbs) untill the fuel system upgrade comes out. Otherwise I'll have to drop the turbos in the future which is a big pain in the as$.
