How many miles do you guys have?
I want to boost the car but I have around 23k now. When is it too late if ever to boost the engine? I dont want to boost it and have the motor blow as soon as I install the turbo/sc. Ive heard that a SC is much safer then a turbo, is this true?
1. How many miles did you have before you installed your FI?
2. How many miles do you have on it boosted?
3. Any problems?
4. What else do I have to purchase besides the turbo or sc kit?
5. Are you guys using stock clutch and fly?

1. I had 28K miles and some change when installed. 43000mi now
2. I have 153.. miles boosted. Yes 15k+ @440 or more! "knocks on wood".
3. Random misfire codes about 1 every 2 or 3 months.
4. Cooling updgrades can only aid for the most part. Clutch and some kind of oil pan if not included and possibly and oil cooler.
5. I'm using JWT clutch and flywheel. I heated my clutch up once when racing a M5 at which time he said his heated too...hahahah

1. 32k miles when the turbo was installed
2. 1.6k miles since install.
3. No real problems, only some annoyances with the headers we used.
4. The Turbonetics kit is a plug and play kit. An exhaust is a plus but not required.
5. Stock clutch and flywheel.

1. Right at 7,200 miles.
2. Total mileage is about 18,500, so that is 11,300 turbo miles (Greddy Twins).
3. None at all...except a small exhaust leak after reinstalling my cats for inspection, but that will be worked out this week.
4. Depends where you live and the kind of gas you can get and what f/i kit you get...i.e. if you can only get 91 or 92 octane and you get a Greddy TT kit, you will need the ignition timing harness and tuning, to keep the engine safe. All other kits I believe are safe in 91 octane areas.
5. I used both stock clutch and flywheel with the turbos until about a month ago (~10,000 TT miles) and then I pulled the tranny and replaced them both with JWT Flywheel and RPS Max Clutch. Even though I replaced them after 10,000 turbo miles, the clutch started slipping a few thousand miles earlier.

4200

Nothing

Yes
I'm runnning the APS kit with nothing else. I've run about 1400 miles since I've gone TT. I don't have any clutch issues yet, but I have a brand new 05. I suspect when I do more upgrades my clutch will give out. I've done some pretty agressive launching with the car, so eventualy... The clutch will go.
If I replaced the exhaust, I should be able to get ~50hp more. With good/agressive tuning I should be able to put down 400+ with ease.

1. Went with a TT kit at 5k miles.
2. I have 2.5k miles on it since then.
3. No problems but not running alot of boost (5psi).
4. Umm depends what you want. I have a rebuilt motor and a bunch of other things but if your not goin for a ton of hp and torque you dont need naything else.
5. Have had stock clutch in flywheel in but am getting new ones put in on saturday. The clutch is pretty much burnt out so i decided to get a new one and a new flywheel to go along with prepare for when i turn the boost up.
Basically it depends what you want to get out of the car as to what you have to put in. And 23k miles is not too many to go F/I.
