or you can take out a home equity loan, well, you'll miss out the points you would earn by using the C.C.

I agree with the part, buy and let sit in your garage till you have what you need. I have the APS TT, Koyo Radiator, NISMO Low Temp, JWT Cams, Springs & Shims setting in my garage right now. Will be buying the guages, oil cooler, and clutch next. Once all is bought and paid for, then I'll have the engine done by very good garage, which has a very good reputation, i.e. the ZCargarage here in Nor Cal. This way, I am able to handle the unexspected costs that come next. The hood is a good example and the the vortec or Top Secret front, at that point no more problem should arise as to heat, which you should definitely plan on. And I, myself, I pay up front, no credit, etc. That's why I put each item in the garage till I'm ready. There's a lot of good buys on the forum here all the time, just keep an eye out for them.

7G's is about bare minimum on Turbonetics.. Like some people have said.. Something WILL come up.. It's just the nature of taking apart something that is already working well.

Remember that paying in FULL in cash can ALWAYS help you get a decent discount. I hate to charge things since you can end up in a big hole of debt.

I had some internals sitting at my house for about 5 months now. And now I plan on keeping them in my closet for a bit longer since I'm bolting on the Turbonetics lol.l

I got a pretty good quote from Forged Internals, so I'll probably go with them. I just need to buy the parts out like everyone mentioned to minimize the cost and spread out the expense.

So, when you have your FI system done, what was upgraded/changed and what kind of final cost did you have? I'm looking specifically at the Turbonetics kit.

FI Kit
Gauges
Piller
Install
Management System?
Turbonetics Single Turbocharger Kit = $4,995
Gauges = Around $400, depends on the brand and what you want to monitor.
A-Pillar Gauge Pod = $80
Install = Around $1500 for everything.
No need for engine management, the Turbonetics ST kit includes an ECU reflash by Turbonetics. It is well-capable of controlling the ECU.

Glad to see you are going with Forged Internals.

I talked with Sharif about getting the EU. He's saying the default for Turbonetics is a little rich and conservative, so some tuning could do me good. I'm hoping to join the 400 rwhp club after a bit of tuning. Also, I want to go with a sleeper look instead of the pillar gauges. I'm hoping to replace the volt and oil gauges with boost and wideband. I'll also probably get the EGT and mount it in the nav hubby. I'm looking forward to this.

I would suggest if you are going to mount a gauge in your cubby leave the oil pressure gauge in place and mount boost in there also. Oil pressure is ALWAYS a good thing to know when you are boosted. For an idea heres a pic of my cubby mount made from real CF that JimRHIT and protocav fabbed up for me...

Just what I'm looking for. I guess I could dump the volt meter and put the boost gauge there, then the EGT and wideband in the cubby.

Ugh.. except my '04 Roadster was $33k in December, and I think the base '05 Vettes are low 40s (although dealer addon might be higher since they were in pretty high demand AFAIK). Seems like FI should be closer to the $2-3k mark. I guess it's a small market, but I'm sure they'd sell a lot more at a lower price which would probably increase the market. But I guess if the market will bear $5-7k, that's what they're gonna ask. I guess I could've gone for the coupe and spent the extra money on FI, but I love the drop top, especially since the 350 has the least body flex I've ever seen on a convertible. I'm still debating whether or not to invest in FI, especially since it will likely only result in speeding tickets and if anything will decrease the resale value unless I find a sucker.

To the OP, many banks will finance "Personal Loans." They may ask what it's for, but you can just say you want a new TV or riding lawn mower. However, your credit rating will probably come into play much more so than on a secured loan (home/auto). Also expect double digit interest rates.

IMHO car modification should never be done with a loan or excessive CC use. Loans are for homes, actually buying cars (not modifying them), and for other large necessary purchases.

I pay for everything in cash (get great deals a lot of the time), check, or use my credit card which I pay in full at the end of every month. If I can't afford something, I wait to buy it.

MIAPLAYA - excellent picture. I've seen several in the same place and on the counsel just in front of the shifter, which looked good. I actually change from the counsel to the way yours is as my place to put the gauges also.
I agree with BriGuyMax. I do the same. Don't need those credit card interest rates and then you actually paying more then the cost of the purchase.
Two excellent examples...
