Question Question for greddy TT guys.

ok, so I've decided on the greddy kit and I'm scheduled to get my car done starting Nov. 5th over at Street Image kuz they do great work and have great customer service and prices . Anyways, Eric and Roy were telling me that I should just leave the tune the way it is out of the box and just do a dyno run to see how much power it's putting down. I'm new to all this FI on a NA car thing so I never thought much about 'tuning'. I guess my question is, will the stock tune be k00l with the kit or should I get it tuned regardless? Won't the A/F ratio and powerband be all over the place if I don't get it tuned?
Oh ya, and I'm gettin a 3" exhaust, hf cats, and the crawford plenum too if that changes anything.
Thanks for all the help guys.

You should get it dynoed after install and tune it as well, it will probably be rich but with the exhaust changes you will definelty need it to be tuned, bring it up to around 11 AFR.

The 3" exhaust is overkill and really overkill considering you are putting on HF cats instead of test pipes.

Isn't the FUJI exhaust 3" too?....how much boost are you running to get 401rwhp?
so for sure have it tuned? I know both eric and roy were tellin me that it WILL run rich but that it was a good thing kuz....lean = boom... but i was wondering if i should get it tuned to smoothen everything out....
Thanks man

oh ya ur car looks nice with the rims and the FMIC up front ...

IMO...I would never run a Greddy kit without timing control.....which is not part of the stock kit/tune. There have been a few guys who have blown up on their first drive without timing control.

Thanks.

Sorry I assumed you were talking about a dual exhaust, yes the Fuji is 3" but single. I am running 8 psi but as mentioned you need to address timing and also fuel. Rich is good but too rich is not but you will know this once you dyno, mine was off the chart rich it didn't even appear on the graph.

While your car is in the shop, just have your ECU reflashed @ TS.

Hey Ant830, with the stock boost and no other mods the kit will be rich, but adding your hf, and fuji will lean it out a little bit. I am running the Greddy as well and have stayed at the stock setting and have not hooked up the timing harness yet. The car has been running for close to 20k miles for over 1.75 years now. So far no problems. I do plan to hook up the timing harness sometime in the future and probably do a build but right now the car is fine as is and is not on my top priority.

How's it going aloharacing?

edit: Definitely get it dyno w/ A/F to ensure the e-manage is keeping fuel in check.

Dont worry, i have a greddy, i used to run the emanage at 5psi for ever. Made 363 with test pipes, exhaust and tuned. Greddy makes a good kit. People just try to tune the hell out of them, and blow them up, its all about the tuner. Wait for APS to release it software to everyone, tuners gonna blow up APS cars, just like the first greddy people that blew.

I self-installed my kit but had Eric at StreetImage re-do the Manifold Bolts that Greddy provided. Also had Eric do some custom stuff and added parts. I am using pretty much stock tune and daily drive my car.

I suggest getting the GReddy eManage ignition timing harness at the very least.

Definitely get it tuned; the plenum, HF cats, and exhaust may make the tune unsafe.

I would do a dyno run and check the powerband and AFR, and go from there.

BTW, we can get you the ignition timing harness if you need it.
