Question Turbo or Supercharger

Simple question ,, what would be a better investment for the Z...a turbo or a supercharger...i heard that a supercharger runs all the time and a turbo is only high end. .. which is gonna make me faster?

the turbo isn't just high end. The sc is belt driven so it comes on quicker than the turbo which runs off of exhaust. The turbo has to spool up off of your exhaust so it has more of a lag. The turbo will give you a sharper torque curve but the sc will be more linear in the power band. I own a turbo car so I'd be more partial to the sc just for something different.

You should probably take some time on www.howstuffworks.com. If you're looking for a fundamental difference between the two, this will explain it quite well. Lurk here for awhile as well. The guys here can be your best teacher, you just have to listen, and ask intelligent questions and you'll get the answers you're looking for.

Very true, after having both and driving them alot. The power of a turbo, or more particular twin turbo, is definitely more ample. The feeling of raw linear torque of a super charger is awesome. Between the two of those you have a tough choice. I would say it comes down to a personal preference, and what your goals are for your car.

The question is simple, do you want Torque or not?

Also if you want to build up the engine more Turbo is the way to go. SC can make good power but it can't make what the Turbo makes on Z's. Other cars it may be different.

That's basically it, Im not gonna mention all the other things.

If money was not an issue I would get a TwinTurbo.

From your question and how it was stated . I guess you havent researched it and are like most of the guys . They started from scratch . If money is no problem...find a very good shop FIRST . One that knows the Z or G35 and putting F/I on it and tuning it . Talk to them first .Then make up your mind

IMO both systems are a good investment but it all boils down to the driveability you expect out of the car. Do you want a sudden rush of power at full boost from a turbo set-up? Or, do you want a more linear introduction of power from a S/C set-up? My suggestion, if at all practical for you, is take a ride along with a couple folks that have both systems and then you might be better able to choose which route you want to take.
