yup. i have forwarded all my info to han at intense who said he will submit it to a mr kuryama, the "head designer" at hks. its making only slightly better than half of their advertised gain at the wheels. this is a good opportunity for intense and hks to step up and help me resolve the problem. if not, well, i won't even go there right now. of course, i'll keep you all posted.

Actually your AFR looks pretty good. Its in the mid 11s and richens up a bit as it nears redline. This is exactly as it should look for a boosted car.

Should have zero bearing on the less then stellar gains. YOu should have picked up a few from that and also have been able to rev up the motor faster. Thats it. I sincerely doubt its at fault.

that's what i thought, and btwn the fw and pulley, it does rev mad fast. i just don't want hks coming back saying "your fw is the cause". thanx for your input.

when i drove home last nite after the gauge install and further belt tightening, i checked it on the zeit after a wot pull. max boost was 7.1 on the zeit.
based on the amnt of boost from the dyno, more-or-less, the 48 extra hp provided by ~6.3lb of boost comes to only ~8hp/lb of boost. so even if the belt-tightening gave me another lb of boost and 8hp, that would still put me at only 303hp. am i wrong here? i'm new to this whole boost thing.
according to hks's own press release and claims of "80+hp at the wheels", i should be making at least 247+80=327hp.

i don't know the answer to that question, but like i said above, after some more belt tightening, the zeit showed a max boost of 7psi, which is what hks says is the right amnt of boost for their kit.

what about this: i had ts do a reflash back in jan. they increased rev limiter to 7100, opened tb maximally, and removed max speed limiter. could this be the cause? and what about the lightwt crank pulley?

its nice, comes on early as you can see from the dyno. accelerates very fast cuz of the ltwt pulley and fw. chirps 2nd, 3rd easily with vdc on.

It seems like the boost dropped quite a bit after 6200rpm, maybe the belt is still slipping? Maybe the BOV is not tighten enough? Anyways, nearly 300whp is still very nice. Congrats.

okay, interesting conversation with han from intense, where i bot the kit. he spoke to john kuryama at hks, who told him:
1. the 80 hp gain on the advertised dyno was made with race gas and the hks dual exhaust; most people get btwn 300-320 on pump gas.
2. belt must be extremely tight.
3. lightwt fw, pulley are not a negative factor; neither is the limited ts reflash i had done.
4. 03 ecu doesn't have as much timing as later models. he said to call dealer and find out if they did an ecu software update on my z.
5. contrary to what we all thought, the fcon piggyback that comes with the kit CAN be tuned by an hks pro dealer!!!
