Default F/i?

I plan to go F/I in Dec or Jan my question is would it be smart to have my ECU reflashed back to stock (except 7100 rpm and speed governor) before I install any type of F/I fuel management? I have the "tune to your mods" TS reflash (not the L). The kit I've decided to install is up in the air between the JWT TT or a custom GT35R ST with the EU, both will put out the same amount of power but one is a little less expensive (ST). Thanks

I don't think 7100rpms and FI on a stock block are a good recipe. I think 1 guy on here has been doing that but if you go Turbo, that can equate to Swiss Cheese Block IMO. If you have a light flywheel 500rpms wont even be noticeable, best to leave it stock.

What you might want to consider instead of spending the money to reflash your ecu back to stock would be to trade with someone who has a stock ecu that wants a reflash and has similar mods to you. Just thinking of saving that bit of money.

Can you do that, I think their is an issue with ecu's being tied to certain cars.

Swapping ecus sounds great but what about the engine immobilizer? ECU will still have to be sent to Techno for reflash, won't it?

I thought most people got the L spec flash with FI and a 5at (raised rev limit, governor removed) to avoid from hitting the rev limiter in D. I don't plan to shift that high in MM anyway.

I don't think you can switch ecus between cars because of the immobilizer. ( I could be wrong) I think it is coded for your car. I also have a G35 coupe.

Talk to technosquare. I don't think it will be nearly as expensive as you think to have your ECU "Unflashed". And yeah, the 7100 RPM redline won't really do you much good with an F/I kit because power will be falling off before that. The only thing you might keep is the removed speed-governor, if that's possible.

This would work, but you would have to have the keys flashed to work with the ECU by the dealer, which cost like $150 I think.....so not really cheaper than flashing back.

Based on the price I was quoted by Tadashi (which I won't list here because I'm not sure if it was specific to my case), it would be CONSIDERABLY cheaper to have TS "unflash" your ECU for you.

Most get the L-Spec for MPH/KPH limiter remover. BTW, you can specify to Technosquare what RPM you want the limiter set to, I believe.

I would go no more than 7,000 RPM limiter on stock internals.

Those are "tuning flashes" though, correct? I believe the "unflash" price to just dump the TS programs and put the ECU back to stock are less than that.

Thanks for the info guys!! I'll guess i'll get it reflashed back to stock just to be safe, but with the governor removed. How is the car holding up Matt? Send me a update since my internet time is limited.

Unless you go all the way back to stock, I'm not sure TS will consider it a true "unflash". Realistically, you should ask yourself how much value there is in being able to go 170 MPH (or whatever the Z's ungoverned top speed is) vs. being governed to 156. Just a thought.

i agree. after getting a full reflash, i went back to the stock timing and a/f before i installed my sc, but now that i know i shouldn't rev up to 7100 and don't plan on finding out what my new, reflashed max speed is, if i had to do it over again, i would have just done the "unflash".
i'll send you an email, denchan.
