Max Hp the VQ can take?
Whats the most Hp the VQ35DE can take stock;no pistons, rods and no block work. Just curious because I dont want to blow the motor. I know the VQ can't take over 8lbs of boost on the Greddy kit or so I've heard from my tuner. Any response is cool so please give me your input

Being safe... i would say around 404rwhp and 410rwtq at 8 psi with propper tune... alot of the greddy tt Z's around here are running 8 and at the numbers i listed.. But with the greddy 8 is just perfect 9 would be pushing it. And upgrade to the EU... do you have the techno square complete re-flash????????.... if so not a good idea with F/I @ 7100 rpms you will blow your motor at 8psi. ?????

Alot of people are making quite a bit more than that at slightly higher boost safely. It is all in the tune.
I was just curious about how much I can push the stock block of the VQ because I bought new parts(JWT cams, Crawford plenum and Greddy E-01 Boost controller). I'm about 330- 340 RWHP right now with 5lbs but just wanted to get some more info about if any folks have holes on the side of the motors
. I didn't know having your ECU reflash and being F/I would matter but if you have a link saying that it messes with the motor in any way.
Friends told me as long I have it tuned correctly it shouldn't matter but I over heard that the VQ has weak pistons and rods; and shouldn't be push too much. Just wondering what that magic number is till I've to upgrade

The Greddy kits MUST be flashed for timing. We have reliable made 400 to 450 @ 8 to 9 psi on over 20 cars with the flash. Timing is by far the biggest issue with these cars. The factory ECU will advance timing on you at any time.

What does your TS turbo reflash consist of? I have the complete TS reflash now, but plan to go back to stock before going FI in a few months. Thanks
There is no real answer to this question as of yet. The amount of power that guys are running keeps going up and we don't have motors consistantly popping @ a certain power level yet so there is no definite "max".

467rwhp at 9psi and 7000rpm redline. daily and nightly highway races 2nd,3rd,4th,5th gear. you couldnt beat on a car harder without putting it on a road course. around 15,000 miles like that before tearing down for build up.
With a piggyback its going to be as hard to get as good of a tune, I had the FCON standalone. But assuming the tune is good, 7000rpm and over 450rwhp is no problem at all.
as for the reflash, i dont think its needed at all. you can pull out timing with the e-manage that comes with the greddy kit, APS kit already pulls timing. the only reason i would reflash is for higher rev limiter... 6500 rpm blows when you have twin turbos.

i cant recall for sure as I only took a peek at the maps once for a brief moment... however I am pretty sure that it does. When a good tuner builds maps for a car, he doesnt leave the out of range RPM/Load sites blank, they will usually at least continue on with what was already happening with averaged interpolation... or they will at least set ultra conservative settings in those ranges.
However, to double check this, I would shoot an APS dealer a email with that question.

442whp and no problems after 3K miles.
