What SuperCharger Requires No internal mods?
am a newbie,
what SuperCharger out there will require no internal engine mods, what i mean by that is,,,,,i want something thats going to last and no check ups daily. the Z is used as a daily driver, never auto crossed, but i like the fact that 80Wheel HP is a nice upgrade.......
what Supercharger kit comes with everything i need and wont have to worry about anything.....ie...tune ups.....etc.......
i hope i got to the point......!
sorry for being such a newb....

They're ALL supposed to be bolt-on without internal mods. The key is proper installation and tuning. People have taken extra precautions by adding products like the J&S Safeguard to prevent detonation. I went with the ATI ProCharger and switched to the APS TT this summer. The best advice I can give you is to use a shop that knows the Z and has installed the kind of supercharger or turbo you choose previously. You're in the N.E. right? MRC Motorsports in Spotswood, N.J. has experience with both. Talk to Julian Lewis (201)779-6655
Happy Boosting,

I've had a Vortech SC in my G35c for about 8-9K now and it's been flawless requiring no adjustments or maintenance other than cleaning the oil jet to the blower with each oil change. If you go with the standard 8 lb pulley it will be very safe. You want to be sure, however, with any FI setup that you don't drive around with VDC on unless you're not going into strong boost. VDC is great for safety but can cause severe detonation under the right circumstances with hard driving on an FI system. Not all Zs have VDC, however.
The Vortech is nice because it comes with a pretuned, adjustable piggyback engine management computer. It's set very conservatively by the factory and unless you're routinely driving at redline or above, will be highly unlikely to allow significant detonation--the major cause of engine failure under boost. When I tuned my Vortech after installation, I only needed to lean it out a bit and gained very little in HP. It was already at 380 rwhp out of the box.
Absolutely stay away from turbo if you don't want any hassles, problems or engine destruction. Supercharging is considerably safer unless you've got a built engine. I don't know much about the ATI Procharger but know that, at least on this board, there have been more engine failures reported with ATI than Vortech--but they're rare to begin with.
Avalon Racing in Londonderry, NH is a great shop to deal with. Their prices are, I believe, the lowest, and their mechanic is absolutely pro-quality with lots of experience installing SCs.
