I say it depends on the cost of it. You can probably buy a brand new one for around $4400 shipped. I have heard of a lot of guys buying used Vortechs and havent heard of anything negative about doing so. Just be sure you get everything that comes with it.

See my Cardomain page for what else I have installed. In addition, you will need several hundred dollars of extra things for added saftey. You will need at minimum, a boost gauge, an EGT gauge and a wideband O2 gauge. You should also get an oil pan spacer for more oil capacity or an aftermarket baffled oil pan like the APS or the PE one. Spacer=$100, oil pan=$450-500. You will also need to get new plugs. I got NKG Iridium 1 step colder plugs for about $65.

I really like my SC now. I was disappointed when I first got it. I was ONLY puting down about 310-320RWHP. Now I have the 3.12 pulley and am puting down 367RWHP. I do have a 5AT as well which lowers my numbers.

I bought a used Vortech off the forum from KOPO and he sent me everything i needed to install it. With a little tuning i was putting down 384 rwhp and 311 tq... Been problem free and going strong (beat vettes, M5's ect.) thank god, for about 3 thousand miles now. I say if he gives you a good deal and you have a reputable shop to instal and tune it, you should definatly go for it
