i spoke to weldon, the company who makes the sump pump for APSs kit, and what i was told wasnt good. ill PM you about it.

i was told that the location and way APS designed the kit is not ideal. there should always be a vented reservoir between the turbo and the sump pump. in this application the oil becomes mixed with air inside the turbo causing a mist-like vapor that the sump cannot clear from the turbo, so what you get is a vapor lock. you need the reservoir there so the oil will solidify making it easier for the sump to do its job. my sump pump has started to leak at every seal. of course, who knows why. since i was the first person to do a DIY yourself install, APS hadnt released the wiring diagram for the G yet. i hooked it up by their instructions but it was wrong, peter helped me sort it out, but who knows if damage to the pump had already been done? weldon said the leaking in the sump was caused from oil getting past the seals either from high pressure or high volume in the sump, maybe caused by the following...

another thing they were concerned about was the way the oil drained into the oil pan. if the oil is draining at a place where it has to fight to clear the oil, hence below the oil level, this causes the sump to back up with oil and work too hard. who knows if where it drains in under the oil line or not? its hard to tell. what im gonna do is reroute the drain to where i had my block tapped for the vortech, since that is abouve the oil level they said that would be much better. im gonna try to get a can of some sort to act as a reservoir. I PMed peter and tuan both several days ago but neither has answered.

i think thats why the new SFR TT kit has that aluminum cannister that the turbos drain into before going to the sump. they use a Mocal sump but its basically the same principal, let the oil collect before you try to pump it.

Since the TT kits drain from the turbos to the pan wouldn't they back up as well and smoke if that theory holds?

im just relaying the info from weldon, take it any way you like. all i know is my turbo floods with oil, along with my intercooler. did you see my pics of my intercooler and piping?

 

I am not doubting your problem just curious as to what the cause could be, the APS TT's I have seen here do not smoke.

My Greddy has a similar drain and it doesn't smoke along with other Greddy's.

 

i wonder if it has to do with turbo actually forcing the oil back, and gravity helping. im not sure.

there have been many APS TT owners that cars smoke and nobody can figure out why. there have been multiple threads about it. APS said it was because the drain hoses werent routed correctly causing the oil to back up into the turbos. some people corrected it, but many cant,

again, im not sure, just trying to get my problems and others that have the same problem figured out. that was why i called weldon.

 

So do we think it is safe for a 180 mile drive to go get it fixed if I keep it out of boost?

Yeah I am going to go to JapTrix. Arghhh that really blows. I wish I knew any place in Tampa that I could go to and trust. I haven't heard of anyone in this area though.
