Default Should I cut the front grill for my FMIC in California?

Hey guys...just wondering what your opinion is. For those of you with FMIC in California, I'm running a stock front bumper. Should I cut the grill for the IC? I'd like to show the IC of course, but knowing the strict laws of Cali, I'm a bit hesitant. Should I just hide it behind my factory grill then? I know performance wise it wouldn't make much difference. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

I went stealth all the way until APS can produce a CARB Exempt Number. Not worth the risk to me ....espeacially if I get pulled over for some of my driving to begin with.

I don't like the look of the front grill cutout. You can see all types of nastiness inside. I was thinking about it as well until I saw the pics.

If you do decide to cutout the grill you could always paint the intercooler black to match your car and it would still be stealthy lookn and getting the most air flow.

That would be awesome to see. Not a bad idea IMO.

Don't forget that when you take out the OEM fromt grill, you expose the Tow Hook also. It's not really a hook, but a set of threads that hang down so that a hook can be screwed into it in case the car needs to be towed on to a flat bed.

Royal T - pretty good idea...but that's not reversable...

BLN350Z - yea I almost forgot about the Tow hook...maybe I should just keep it stealth then...until if I wanna change to a different bumper...

I had my OEM grill painted Pearl white like the rest of my car. Gives it that Euro look.

If I were you, I wouldn't do it. I have heard too many bad stories about Cali cops and imports. I would only do it if it was a CARB approved kit. Even if u go with an aftermarket bumper, I would still put some sort of mesh or grill just to cover it a little.
