Default Power steering leak due to turbos?

Well i had a very bad leak from my power steering. I was going to try to get it covered under warrenty and they said the power steering line had rubbed againt the passenger side turbo, worn a hole through it and it was going to be $700 to R&R it.

I ended up taking to the performance shop i go to and they said they might bable to make it out of something that will not tear as easy. The kit has only been on for about 5,000 miles

Anyone else experiance this problem??????

Which turbo kit was it? That's pretty strange though. We haven't run into a problem like that yet. Well, hopefully you get it fixed.

Don't worry, you're not the only one. There have been many people with this problem.

just get some -6 stainless hose and run it in place of it. You need close to 4ft.

And I too, was surprised that this is common when it happened to me and I had never heard of it.

Is it a hard install, do i need to get fittings at the end of it?

I didn't use any fittings. The hose had a pretty tight fit over the barbs anyway, so I just used screwtype hoseclamps to secure it. You will need to run it kinda away from the turbo as well. Its not necessarily hard to install, but you basically have to drain all of you P/S fluid to do it. Just trace the line to where it connects to the steering rack and up into the engine bay. I think it took about 3.5-4 ft to do it, but don't quote me on that, just a general idea of the length cause I just took a piece from the scrap bin at work .

Nissan fixed mine for like $150 including the part (replacement line). He said he moved it away from the turbo piping by like 2" (by bending it slightly with a screw driver) so that it wont happen again. $700 is a ripoff.

BTW the replacement line was $40.

It is very easy. It took about 30 minutes. The line that goes by turbo is painted black but is actually a very thin aluminum line. I replaced it with some stainless steel line and pulled it away from the turbo. This has happened to many people. They just aren't chimming in. It should cost $100 max. You can get to it easily if it's on a lift.

I had the same problem about 2 weeks ago. Took mine to Nissan and they put it on the lift (God I could hear my new Greddy sides cracking... ) and in about 5 minutes they gave me the bad news....
They said they needed to replace the PS line, it was rubbing on the Passenger side turbo. This line was listed in stock for $420 just for the part. THEN they told me they needed to take the Turbo off in order to get to the lines.....

I told them to take it off the lift and not touch a thing.. AAM solved the problem by moving the line...

Dealer was seriously trying to screw me.....

for sure... I just e-mail this link to my guy ( www.racingtechnologyco.com )

He e-mailed me back and was like, well take care of it. He thought it would harder getting my car on the lift with the body kit then it would be replacing that line.

wow...I took was shocked when I read the $700 price tag. Even with stainless lines and labor, its under $200. In stock trim, that line is dangerously close to the turbo housing, so most techs will bend it slighly, and apply some heat wrap material to protect it.

But the best solution is to remove the line, and make your own, as to avoid this problem area altogether.
