Default Turbonetics+ 3.9 gears+ Titlon Flywheel

well for all of you that dont know I originally was going N/A.........So I went and got a Tilton 8lb flywheel and 8lb clutch.....also got 3.917 gears.....all this got installed.....well it wasnt enough...needed more power....so I ordered a Turbonetics kit and installed that bad boy...well I just finished the install with some help a couple of days ago and yesterday I got my EGT and A/F gauges working......well Ill tell ya when I first had the Titlon in the RALLY pack it was a pain in the A$$ to drive....(in the state of Georgia) so bad that I ordered the Street clucth and threw the other one back in the box...stored it in the garage.....well with the F/I kit being more than what the Tilton Street pack could handle I dropped the tranny and put the RALLY back back in.....so any way I was driving to get my exhaust moddified and gauge Bungs put in and the clucth aint as hard to drive as it was before......dont know why....could it be becaue of the Hawaii weather???? I dont know but I tell u what....it works......I havent Boosted more than 5psi so far but initially yes I do need better tires than the Kuhmo MX...haha...yeah I knew I would.....but I love this combo.......and I have a good feeling with practice and great (BFG DR) tires I will have a awesome set-up.........

This is just a preliminary review......as the days go by.....and I feel more confident I will drive harder.....only last night did I get my A/F working so now I will be able check the Z out and see what she likes.....

so dont go rushing out and buying parts kids....hehe...I could be wrong....

On another note...doing a self install can suck real bad......but it feels so great......and when things go wrong you can assist your tuner more......just bad luck for me I dont trust anyone in hawaii yet......

A/F is 10.8/9
Boost is about 8.5
EGT is around 700 at when boosting but goes down after a few seconds

BOV is a little quiet.....

Rush is insane...The gears and flywheel seems to help me down low....I still get good acceleration pre-boost.....And the Royal Purple tranny oil is awesome.....feels like a new tranny...

You're only seeing EGT at 700 when boosting? Where is your sensor located? That seems awfully low. My car runs hotter than that when cruising. My EGT probe is located just outside of the exhaust turbine on the downpipe.

Ok, so your sensor is WAY down the downpipe. That makes more sense then. 700 sounds more normal then given that location. It's hard to compare car to car if the sensors are located in different places, and I think most people are either before the turbo (i.e. on a header or something), or just after at the very top of the downpipe just outside the exhaust port of the exhaust turbine.

Mine is on the turbo feed pipe. Right before it goes into the turbine. I see 600-800 cruising and about 1100 under full boost.

Yep, our probes are probably just a few inches apart, and that's what I see as well. I would expect it to be considerably cooler down the pipe near the tranny though...by several hundred degrees. It's amazing how fast it cools, especially when the probe is sitting on a pipe that's being air-cooled by airflow underneath the car.

Could the low EGT numbers be due to a gauge that reads celcius(sp?) instead of fahrenheit? My EGTs with tyhe Vortech hit as high as about 1450-1500 deg. F while under heavy boost.

I don't think so. With the probe that far from the heat-source, 700 degrees under boost wouldn't surprise me. While 700 celsius would seem normal either on the header or at the turbo (it converts to 1292 deg. F), with a probe so far awaythat would mean that manifold temps were REALLY high. And aluminum melts at 1600 degrees.

Earlier you said you see 700 while boosting. Has something changed? At highway speeds, my car will sit around 800-850

Actually..
Melting Point: 660.37 °C (933.52 K, 1220.666 °F)
Boiling Point: 2467.0 °C (2740.15 K, 4472.6 °F)
This is raw aluminum.
The alloy used in our engine i have no idea.

Im now driving normal again because I feel more confident about the saftey.....the highest Ive seen so far is 850...after a 2nd and 3rd gear boost run......

The gauge fluctuates between 500 and 700 normally......depending on driving style
