Oleg i have been considering this kit as well... you should talk to Tinman if you haven't already... he's been running this kit for quite some time on his G problem free (although his motor is BUILT).

So what do you think of my choice?
obviously you've done some homeworks.i'm not here to tell you things like get THIS kit or don't get THAT kit because it's sucks.
what i can tell you is i had the SFR kit for about a year now putting around 10000mi on it without any problems.i have built motor but but for the first 6 months or so it was stock.Tim has it on his Z for few months now,he's running 470 something whp on stock motor.
i just have to laugh it out loud when i read those 2 comments
as for the ball bearing...if you can,get it.you pay for what you get and you get what you pay for.

+10000000

Good response.I feel the end choice is what Oleg feels comfortable with and what his budget and goals are. Either Turbo kit will be just fine however I feel there is more POWER potential in the SFR kit.

I think that at this point, unless Top Secret will surprise everyone with something really crazy, this is the best setup. Now the easiest part, saving up...
BTW, Tinman, how is that fully built tranny surviving that onslaught of power?

An SFR distributor opened up 2 hrs away from me. After speaking to them I have come up with a plan. SFR tuner kit, AAM fuel return systems, RC 650cc injectors and TXS UTEC all tuned to 9-9.5 PSI. Should make good power on stock motor, and in 12-18 month I can just upgrade the internals and just up the boost for more power.
Anyway, what did I miss in this idea and is it worth to spend an extra grand to get ball bearing turbos? Are they higher or lower maintainance as opposed to the standard bearting units? What about heat, which makes more?

Thanks.
It seems like SFR has their stuff together and the UTEC sounds great too, so as long as you have confidence in this tuner it should be a great setup. If you're spending this much money you may as well get the BB turbos too.

To ease some peoples minds about the SFR kit.........I would not use the word unproven.SportZ Magazine did not use those words when they tested our kit against all the big companies in their turbo shootout.Besides that we have had these kits on cars for more then two years. Its not like it has been out for two months.

APS,Greddy,JWT,etc... have nice kits but they are power limited! You can only do so much with log manifolds and small turbos stuffed next to the side of the block. Now if you look at all of these kits, they are all the same. The manifolds,turbos,downpipes,piping,etc......are nearly identical because you can only do so much with the space constraints in these engine bays.We took a completely different approach with our turbo system.Big power was the driving force along with reliability. As far as reliability goes......we have not had one cracked header. The car with the most miles on it so far is one of our customers and he is 30K+ miles. He has 304SS headers and no cracks. We have been building headers for a long time and we know how to do it right. The materials we use are from reputable companies which allows us to build a better product then the stuff coming out of Taiwan. We offer a lifetime warranty on the 321SS headers for the turbo system because we know, they will be trouble free for the life of your car.We have took our racing background in Porsches(we have built hundreds of high dollar headers for these cars for almost ten years with no cracking issues) and applied it to the 350Z turbo system so that there is no issues with any of our parts cracking or breaking. Here is an example:
http://www.europeancarweb.com/projec...410ec_proj951/

So enough about the headers cracking concerns.......back to the turbo system itself.Turbonetics T3-T4 turbos. We are the only company that has been able to fit two T3-T4 turbos on these cars.Tial 38mm wastegates which have been around for many years and are the same wastegates that Greddy uses with thier kit.We use Spearco intercoolers, not some cheap Taiwain intercooler cores like some other companies are using. We use real K&N airfilters,we use the best mandrel bent aluminum and stainless money can buy. What else is their in this kit that could be better?

We will be at the dyno on December 10th so why dont you bring your supercar down and we will see how it compares to all the other twin turbo cars.Unless ofcourse you are scared

Tinman,

I cannot say that my situation is similar to any others that had issues with the APS kit. I can say that those posting on the forums with issues are not necessarily as informed as they would lead you to believe about what's 'wrong' with their car.

I am just posting my opinion. You are welcome to run any kit you choose. I put my money in a product that I felt was the best.
Forgive me if I missed it, but I haven't seen a thread about how you fixed the smoking problems, just posts saying that it has been fixed. It seems like APS customers don't like to post the bad things about the kit.

Trust me, I put up plenty of posts about 'the bad things' involved with kit. I can provide links if you like. I went round and round getting it fixed, but in the end, the resolution is something that does not need to be posted on the net. There is no technical info that will help any other person that may have the same issue.

I firmly believe my situation to be an isolated case. this is not to say that others don't have a smoking issue, just that, their situation is not the same as mine

If you read my posts for the last two months you will know that I am going to be moved to Virginia by the first week of Dec.

Quit trying to involve me in your quarrels with other people. grow the hell up.

oh and FYI Tim, the only reason I chose not to go with your system. Your customer service sucks. I asked you simple questions and you could not give me a straight answer (either could keith). Your prices were higher than that of your competitions and frankly the way you do business bothers me.

So how about you MAN UP and quit telling lies and get down to making your business something better?

Once again (the way you do business bothers me)
