Default Stillen Radiator and Nismo Thermostat...first Impression

I went to get the Stillen Radiator and Nismo Thermostat installed today by Performance Nissan, I'm glad I decided against installing it myself because they had to move a few things around due to it being 1" thicker than the stock one.
When talking to a friend yesterday he mentioned I should get a colder thermostat as well...I always thought they are just another gauge but they are actually a replacement for stock opening up for coolant at 154 degrees compared to stock at 174...

Driving home it was a huge difference. My car is running much smoother and it's pulling much harder. It's amazing what a difference a better cooling solution makes.
When I got home after hitting the turbos a few times my engine bay was suprisingly warm....not hot as usual, very cool.

I can't wait to take it to the track. Also my 10oz nitrous bottle arrived so that I can spray a bit of n2o onto the intercooler before each run. It'll be interesting if it makes a difference or not.

Becareful spraying nitrous into your intercooler if you dont have a closed system and nitrous gets into the intake stream you can detonate. I would go with CO2 just to be on the safe side. Just my 2 cents.

That's a myth. The amount of nitrous oxide that would be needed to make the motor detonate is much larger than the small amound of N20 hanging out in the engine bay with all that other air that could "possibly" get sucked into the intake.

In addition when running a nitrous intercooler system you'd spray the entire time and that does not hurt anything.

Besides the plan is to spray some on the intercooler prior to a run, so by the time I'd start the engine the nitrous is already evaporated, it's just simply to cool down the intercooler a bit I saw several 300zx guys do that a few months ago improving their times

On the dyno, we've seen 30whp spikes with the intercooler sprayer firing...this was with an Acura RSX-Type S Greddy turbo car. The AF leaned out about .6 AF points..not terrible, but I still dont like it. I know some of that is coming from the colder intake temps, but some of that nitrous is producing power in the intake stream.

Mrtomcat by chance were you able to log before and after coolant temps with some kind of scanning device?

He's talking about spraying it BEFORE his 1/4 mile runs...not during...

sorry, no.
But here are some of the very noticable things before and after the Radiator install:
The Engine bay used to be very hot after driving for a while, now it's just warm.
The air conditioner would be rediculously cold inside the cabin while driving ever since I got the turbos and now it's back to the way it used to pre turbo...
The car feels less sluggish it pulls harder
when in heavy traffic (5 mph LA traffic) the radiator fans would spool up very loudly, now it's normal.
