Default Darton sleeves?

Does anyone know the average cost of install of Darton sleeves when the engine is already torn apart? Do you need a stand alone to run a 100mm overbore or will the UTEC work? Thanks

I would suggest having Darton perform the install a they warranty the sleeves from leaking. The charge for this is $1000.

We are authorized Darton Distributors, and we typically have at least one set of VQ35 sleeves in stock at all times. They are $1050. We had 5 sets of sleeves, and 3 have already sold, and two are on back-order for about 2-3 weeks.

In regards to 100mm bore. Cosworth makes a 100mm head gasket, which will match your 100mm bore. You dont need a standalone to run larger bore sizes, and an EU or UTEC will work just fine. Just keep in mind, you give up a little bit of headgasket seating area when going overbore. There is still a lot of surface area, even after boring 2mm all the way arond (4mm total diamter increase).

Thanks- Shariff. What would be the power gain of a mod such as this? Would it be more feasible just to keep the stock displacement with the sleeves or overbore the sleeves?

with a standard'ish sized bore of about 96mm, there will be no power gain. The purpose of the sleeve is the strength the block, and allow you to run significantly more boost and power, vs running the stock open deck design.

The advantage of a significant overbore, is the increased displacement. 100mm bore takes you to 3.8L, which translates into roughly 7-10% more power accross the board...all things being equal. You do give up some head gasket sealing surface area....but Darton claims they are safe at 100mm. I am going to probably run 99mm or 100mm bore. I sold the set of sleeves that were slated for my car. And now they are BO'ed a couple weeks.

Thanks keep us updated. That seems to be the route that I would like to go. Now I just need to sell my stock bore pistons I just bought. I wish I could make up my mind because I have wasted ALOT OF MONEY!

hey sharif what do you recommend to hold a little extra power like to say 8 to 9 pounds of boost on the greddy TT instaed of doing an engine build. Also i have an automatic tranny i want to know what upgrades will the tranny need to hold that amount of power and i want to get this tranny cooler is it good and does it have the function that it starts to let the tranny fluids cool after a cartain temperature.

here is the link

There really isnt a whole lot of engine work you can do, without tearing everything apart.

Instead...for 8-9psi, I would recommend doing a return fuel system, and a thorough retune with something like the eManage Ultimate. The tranny cooler is an excellent idea as well. A valve body upgrade will also greatly improve your shifting with this much power.

None needed.

Shariff, when are all the new products from SGP and 3 inch exhausts going on your website? Christmas is around the corner and board members love to spend money!!!!! I could have pushed over an old lady on BLACK FRIDAY at your store for a great deal on the sleeves.

Haha..that is funny. Do I need to hire a security gaurd for the website? No fighting please.

SGP has promised quite a few new products in the coming weeks and months, but it doesnt look like anything will be ready for Christmas. You guys will all be the first to know.

Sweet! Welcome to the east coast. I too was a west coast transplant, and spent more than a decade in the Los Angeles area, until recently.
