I would say get it on a dyno with some 93 in it just to be safe, your car was way rich on the dyno it would be hard to believe that exhaust could cause it to do that. We have had Turboed hondas with full exhaust that we have dropped when taking it to the track and not even seen that drastic of a difference in a/fs. I could have be bad gas also I would run the tank close to empty and put a fresh batch of 93 in it and get it on the dyno. The sound could be an exhaust leak also make sure you check and make sure thats not the sound you are hearing.

Hey Jet, please...as quickly as possible...get yourself a wideband AF gauge and a boost gauge. I agree, that its highly unlikely you went from sub 10's AF all the way to 12.0:1 and the danger zone.
Every FI owner should consider a boost gauge and wideband AF gauge as manditory equipment. I know you are planning to install them eventually...hopefully sooner rather than later.

You know Really Rich A/F ratios can have just as adverse affect on the motor as really lean A/F's. It could be PRE-detonation also from a hot spot in the motor, I mean we are talking a high compression motor with F/I on top of it..

Overly lean AF ratios can so some major damage to engine very quickly. And I am not refering to 12.2:1 lean for a moment...

Well it's definetly detonation. I put 93 back in, and it was detonating again. I guess the colder temps plus the new exhaust is causing a rise in boost in addition to the increased air volume from the denser air, and more efficient exhaust. I put more 100 octane in, and the detonation went away again. Sorry guys this is definetly detonation and the only changes were as mentioned cooler temps, and new exhaust. I will have it on the dyno tomorrow and I will install my boost guage to get some hard numbers for you.
UTEC and electronic boost controller here I come.

Here is the deal... I installed my boost guage, and at 62F I am hitting dead on 11.5PSI. Sooooo warning to anyone thinking of an open exhaust with the stock TN tune.....WATCH OUT. I put it on the dyno today, and my A/F @ 6200 RPM was 12.39. At 42F the other night when I got the detonation for the first time just after adding the new exhasut I'm sure my A/F was well above 12.39. Tomorrow I will install my mechanical boost controller and lower the boost back to 8PSI.

Sorry if I missed where you might have said this if you have, what spring do you have in the wastegate? Cause if it is the provided one (9lbs) then you should remove that one and change it with the 7lb one. Until you can make the needed upgrades for more boost.
