Default Possible scenario with the Turbonetics ECU reflash

my car is 100% stock. so, i am hoping the reflash would be sufficient. it seems like a hit-or-miss deal with the ECU reflash from what i've read on this forum. however, most of the people having issues with the reflash seem to have additional mods then the kit itself.

what would be the cheapest method of tuning the kit further, if the dyno shows the car leaning out/too rich? i dont want to spend lots of additional money for good systems like UTEC and EMS, etc.

just to trying to prepare for the worst.

One of the cheapest solution is probably the SS box. You can probably get it cheap from someone upgrading their Vortech kit.

It is unlikely that you will have issues with the reflash on a stock setup. That is was it was made for. You are correct in that most people that are having problems can attribute it to extra modifications, improper install, or a defective part of sorts.

The cheapest way to upgrade engine management would be to find a used piggyback from someone upgrading another kit. Emanage Blue for instance...

Although, a friend that owns a shop here in florida (n-tech engineering) has developed his own piggyback system that was used in the shop's 350ztt race car. He is installing it on someone's Greddy tt soon and I'm looking forward to the results. From what he tells me he can do the parts/install for about half of what an EU would cost me.

IF there was an issue the cheapest unit would be an Emanage. I'm not going to rattle off the list of people who have the flash and are running fine again but lets just say its a MUCH bigger ratio of success to problems.

+1 on what people said concerning your chances of having an issue on a stock car, Ive seen some pretty nice A/F's graphs for stockers but anyway....cheapest way would be to have TN reflash your ECU again and see if that takes care of it for you <----surprised you didnt say this MIA

Well he asked what the cheapest piggyback available was if there was a reflash issue. But yes Turbonetics can reflash the ECU again if theres an issue with the flash.

So if I have mods am I going to have a problem with the reflash?

I just decided to go reflash last week. I was originally going to get a GReddy EU.

thanks for all the replies guys. yea, i figure (and hoping) since my car being a 100% virgin, the ECU reflash would perform as expected

Chances are you are fine assuming you dont have like cams, internals etc. I have a plenum spacer exhaust and I'm fine. 35ounces has plenum, exhaust, pullies, etc hes fine, taurran has plenum spacer exhaust and hes fine, see where this is going

Great, thanks. I just have plenum and exhaust. Does turbonetics tune for mods like technosquare does? I'm assuming it's one standard reflash, right?

Its one standard flash but because the MAF is still in place it can account for changes in air flow.
