Default Planning on getting APS ST, so...

heres my question. My goal is to get it, have it install and run whatever the ammount of hp the turbo makes to the wheels once installed. Would you guys reccommend forged int. and stronger clutch? Or would the stock parts work just fine with that ammount of power?

Sorry, its just that im not much of a gearhead

No need for forged internals, but I would suggest to get a aftermarket clutch (and flywheel while ur at it). I've seen people run thousands of miles with a turbo on their stock clutch, but then I've also seen people burn their clutch within a couple spirited drives after their turbo install.

I've never heard of an APS clutch, so I don't think they make it. But there is a company called ATS, so you might be thinking about them.

Check out www.sfzcc.com (South Florida Z Car Club) we have a few meets every month.

Depending on how old your clutch is you can hold off on doing that, you wont save any money doing it at the same time, my stock clutch was replaced at 32k total miles and 10k with the Turbo kit and looked fine.

As for the flywheel I suggest using the car with the turbo first to see if you want a flywheel, the revs will go a lot quicker as it is with the turbo and the flywheel will just enhance that and you might be hitting the rev limiter often.

how old is your car? I would just wait until the OEM goes bad and then replace it. It won't save you any money to install the after market clutch at the same time of the ST so you might as well wait till the OEM goes out.

no need for a clutch or flywheel - esp on a new car.

Did you guys miss this? So in other words you want to max out the turbo that comes in the APS ST kit for the maximum whp it can provide? If so, this would require 10+ psi of boost easy, and to do this you WILL need to upgrade internals, (pistons/rods).

I think he means run whatever it makes out of the box with no tuning. Which I wouldn't agree with, I'd go for the safest tune if he doesn't want to run too much power. I don't think he's trying to max it out. But who knows, we've seen everything on here.

im looking at the aps st also...does anyone know the price of that? i thought i heard someone on here say the price was dropping? I just want to run the turbo at it's safest psi, about how much whp would that be, because im not too into the idea of building the engine... I hear people say so many different things about building or not building, and im just curious as to what people honestly think the risk is of running between 350-400 whp on stock block with aps ST, please be honest. Thanks

I would hold off on the clutch aslo . You might need that cash to fix a smoking problem or a boost drop off problem

i've had the kit for about 2 months; it is a conservative tune. Have had no problems with the Kit, but had to replace the oil pan because a rock caved it in, and if you are on a lowered car you will be definitely scrapping he down\mid-pipe that think sticks out like a mother.

Getting coilovers to increase the height for daily drive and lower when tracking it.
