Default TURBONETICS vs PRECISION Whats better for the Z?

60-1 vs SC-61

Ok, So my weapon of choice will be the Turbonetics kit w/ a Utec to control all those wonderful parts. Now here's my question and I'd love to hear from Turbonetics on this one. On my MR2 I have a Precision SC61 took me like 6mos to get... I was contemplating goin with either that or a 60-1 for the MR2... It came down to being the first one around here with that turbo to help me decide for my project 5SFE-t motor.

Now here is my dilema i will be pulling the turbo off and goin with a ceramic CT20b for selling reasons and I will have an extra SC61 turbo sitting around... It should be interchangeable with the 60-1 if im correct, 5 bolt DP mate, and 4 bolt off of the manifold/ collector in this case. I know why turbonetics chose the 60-1 "DUH!" But i have never really heard a pro/con comparison of the two turbos and since I now would have a choice of what to run on the car I'm at a quandary!

Turbonetics if you want to step in here and correct my thinking if this will even work, id love to hear any opinions...

Here is my philosophy, dont mess with something that aint broken unless you can gain HP. However i hate to pioneer something new i did that with the MR2 and that stuff gets expensive...

Turbonetics 60-1 Ball Bearing turbo vs.630*SC-6152E61mm2.416"3.227"563" / 2"360 Race0.63T3502.920"2.420"

Oh i also forgot i have one of these from a Honda...
580SC-6031E60mm2.320"3.000"603" / 2"360 Race.48 or .63T312.559"2.229"

I dunno what it is I just seem to collect turbos... I have a family of 6 snails, 3 ct26 ALL DEAD, ct20b fresh, SC61 (only one mounted), SC-6031

well the turbonetics downpipe is only 4 bolts, and the other a five so you might have a problem.

Agreed...the mounting makes this topic pointless. Turbonetics uses a 4 bolt downpipe flange and a 4 bolt turbine inlet flange.

Well power all depends on your setup, with my set up i am making 450rwhp and tq that was the last I heard from my shop, final numbers are coming in.... BUT I HAD TO GET my down pipe RE-Fabricated because of my greddy evo-2, I had to get a new down pipe made because the other one kept on leaking.... but anyways with Solid engine managment like the U-tec anything can happen!!

Glad that helped out. I'm sure as you know that Turbonetics did a good job sizing this turbo for this kit. Keep your eyes peeled for Stage II. AS it stands it will either be a T61 ot T66 with bigger injectors, a EMS system, and oh yeah 550 RWHP 530 ft/lb of Tq at 15 PSI

MIA, Do you anticipate the piping changing for that stage II?

I think there will be a different feed pipe. At least the section that actually bolts to the turbo. Don't quote me on that though. They must change inlet flanges. I'm 90% the downpipe will change. But again its all speculation till they start fitting everything up. I have heard talk of possibly using the NewGen wastegate for Stage II.
