Default Project car, it has begun!

As some of you might have seen Mia posted a silver Z a couple weeks ago. A dealer was selling the car with a blown motor. The car has a Greddy TT with boost controller, clutch, wheels, exhaust ect. Well today I picked up a long block from a local junk yard for 1200.00 The timing cover is cracked and one of the cam gears is broken but it should be a easy fix. I laso picked up a fuel return system used from a member on here for 300.00 including the pump. Ive been told that emanage that comes with the kit is ok as long as you buy the timing harness. Is this true? Im not looking to push more then 420-440hp on a stock block. I just want it safe as it will be the wifes car. This should be a fun new project! I cant wait to start the modding! Aint nothing but a G and Z thing baby!! Ill be picking up the car next week. I cant wait!!

Sounds like fun, but I'd like to suggest since you have the motor out of the car go ahead and save yourself some time and heartache and build it with some lower compression pistons, rods, cams, studs, etc.

Nice project! The eManage works with a conservative timing flash or ignition harness. If you plan on making this more of a project car with other upgrades down the road you might like the new UTEC. It significantly better controls fuel and timing compared to the eManage and elimintates the factory computers involvement under high load which makes for a more reliable setup.

Hope this helps,

Did some searching and found this from sharif
FYI, we do short blocks for $1300 labor plus the parts of your choice. For your needs, I would suggest Arias Standard Duty pistons $750, Eagle rods for $575, and ARP stud kit for $380
Not bad.

I would strongley recommend a UTEC for enginemanagment because once you have it professionally tuned you dont have to mess with it anymore, also in my opinion the UTEC will be better for daily driving because its controls everything better than the emanage, also you dont have to worry about your wife leaving the ignition on by accident and burning the coils with the emanage, UTEC wouldnt have that problem. Just my opinion.

How hard is the UTECH to use? I guess the question is how hard would it be for my tunner to use. Because its such a new product Im sure a lot of people are going to have this question. The car will be tunned at Z Car Garage.

If you are taking the car to Rob at ZCarGarage, he will be fine with tuning the UTEC. I have already talked to him about it.

I just replyed to your PM, BTW.

George,

When I read the above post, I actually could hear you saying it. Interesting!

By the way, a fellow in so-cal Navygolf13 has recently posted a "Loss of his car" and is going to part it out... I've CC: PM'd Tony and Sharif about the SGP block.. How's the creative financing going?

Cheers Amy -
