I had a set of iridiums from a local Z owner and found they were gapped to about .045 out of box. Trouble is, you really can't regap without potentially damaging the diode.

I know a friend of mine ran iridums on his MSP (mazdaspeed protege)- basically a turbo'd protege. For a while a lot of people recommended the iridiums, thats why he ran them. Since, the MSP crowd is switching back to copper, and he has also since. I know a 2.0 I4 is much easier to swap plugs on than our cars are, and that makes the iridiums more attractive for us.

Hmm...wonder where he got them from. I think they are sent pre-gapped to .044 but the ones I got from Sharif were gapped to .039 when I got them. It is a little tougher to gap them due to the electrode being more brittle but I was able to gap them fine on my car and also on my last car (Spec V).

I run them out of the box. They are usually gapped around .040-.042 and that works well. With Nissan's coil over plug direct ignition system, smaller gaps arent needed for FI, which is contrary to the usual school of thought.
