Hey, I was considering a supercharger since I want to be able to get power right away without any lag. But you guys are strongly persuading me to get a turbo. I don't know if it's worth the maintenance expense. How often do you have to run maintenance for the turbo?

Hey, I was considering a supercharger since I want to be able to get power right away without any lag. But you guys are strongly persuading me to get a turbo. I don't know if it's worth the maintenance expense. How often do you have to run maintenance for the turbo?

Supercharger = no power down low
Maintenance is basically the same on a turbo setup vs a SC. That said, look at all the people complaining about strange noises and bearing/pulley issues with SC. Not to mention the belts on a SC.

actually s/c do produce less lag since they are powerd by the rotation of the belts so as the engine revs the super cahrger goes, sure you might not fell power in the lower ends cause of slower rotation but it is there

LIES LIES LIES
SC are RPM based meaning they basically reach peak boost at peak RPMs (a bit generalized I know
)Turbos on the other hand are load based, which means, you don't have to wait till near redline to make peak boost.

I know what you are trying to say, and in a sense it holds water, but when it comes down to it, choosing a SC over a turbo setup, especially in regards to the setups available for the Z, would be just plain ignorant.

i have first hand with bot h s/c and Turbos so go first hand exp your self

Yeah, I only have generalized knowlege(hours of internet research and mechanic advice). From what I know, sc picks up power as soon as you step on it, and turbos take some time to kick in. That why I came up with the decision of a supercharger. But since now I'm hearing the nowadays, turbos don't experience much lag as used to, I'm kind of liking what I'm hearing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

if you want no power down low and a little tiny bit in mid range, then by all means, go SC.
