Default Stillen SC

Ok all, those of you that have it, how happy are you with it? What about hoods? Are there any good ones? (pics would be nice). Strut bars, gone, or aftermarket?

I come from the stang world where the KB is king, and twin screw is the way to go. Is the same principle true in the Z world? I see alot of popularity with the vortech (same in the stang world due to its best 'bang for the buck'). Can anyone give me the pros/cons of the Vortech vs Stillen?

Thanks all!

If you're looking for the SC with the most power, then the Stillen isn't it. The stillen is not really tuneable, unlike the Vortech. However, the stillen is pretty much plug and play right out of the box. The roots type s/c is not very popular with the Z's. The most I've ever seen out of a Stillen SC is 350rwhp. If you're really set on a SC, then I'd suggest the Vortech. I've seen some with 440rwhp. Also, the Vortech is cheaper than the Stillen.

If you're still open to other forms of FI, then I'd strongly suggest that you look into TT's and ST's as well.

The Stillen can put out more than enough power on the street, but for the track it just isn't enough. The good things about the Stillen are the low/mid range power and the incredible sound it makes. To answer your original questions...

Hood - Stillen makes two that will fit. One looks like a Celica hood and the other one looks pretty good IMO.

Strut Bar - Stillen and DC. Thats it.

The Stillen Kit is good for what it is. Plug and play. Good power that is available right from idle. Its not the most powerful out there thats for sure, but its also a safe solution for those who are not Planning on building their motors. I think its perfect for my auto Sedan. I wanted a reliable, safe, and CARB approved and the Stillen fit the bill.

Thanks guys. I have been tossing up the idea of TT/ST setup. Now I want to look at the SC side before I make my decision.

I am mainly looking at the 350-400 for the street. Not really autox or drag. Maybe once in awhile for fun. I just want the little extra push.

Thanks for the info so far, if you have anything else you would like to add, or any good info you want to suggest, please pm or post. Thanks again!

If you want to get a turbo setup wait until the JWT kit comes out. A few board members have it already and my car is almost done with the install and all I have heard is amazing things. We all know that JWT is high quality stuff. Plus, boost kicks in at 2200rpms due to tiny, but efficient turbos. JWT is also working on CARB certification which is why he has only released a few "prototype" kits. The one thing that stillen does have though is an option of a warranty. Also the plug and play factor and much lower install costs if you are not planning on installing yourself.

+1 on Jaki's comments.

The JWT TT really intrigues me.

Any idea on what these things will cost once they actually hit the open market?

No, I haven't heard anything about pricing. If you want to read some first hand opinions on the JWT kit, there is a thread in the forced induction forum started by vision619 who just got his kit installed.

No problem. I will be posting a full review of my JWT TT kit on a built motor in a few weeks. I can't wait!

What's up Mike (350NV), I was just checking on the status on some of your parts. Did you see we have Mike S's (vision619) car on the website now too? Your car is going back together nicely, slowly but surley. I'll Talk to you soon.

On another note, I like the Stillen sc, for what it is. You can make more power easier with almost anything else, but you can't deny its instant throttle response and its awesome sound (I am partial to that sound)

It doesn't make sense, You realy feel that a TT kit should cost as much as a ST kit

You get what you pay for in FI, usually. Knowing what I know, and seeing what I have seen.........IMO, If I had to, I would at least pay twice as much for a JWT TT kit over an APS and TN's ST kit.
