Default JWT Cams and Boost Big Gains?

I am wondering if JWT cams make a big diffrence on boosted VQ35s, How much more power would you gain running around 10psi on a 9.0:1 compression ratio block with forged internals? Just trying to see if it is worth justify the cost. Thanks!

Im in the same boat as you.. My reason for gettin cams is same power at less boost and so that my car doesn't fall on its face after 5.5kRPM.

I have heard of 30-50whp with the JWT TTs. I think that was on a built motor though.

I'm pretty sure Sharif mentioned about 40whp from cams when I posed the same question. However, that was with a stock motor.....not sure about built motor with lower compression.

Hey Guys,

I went with the JWT Cams at the suggestion of Rob at Z Car Garage, and he estimated that I saw about an additional 40whp from the cams.

How much did that cost you, roughly?

point is with the cams you will always have roughly 40whp more at any givin boost setting. safer way to get more power out of the motor

I'm sworn to secrecy on the price I paid for the cams, but the pricing was great for both the parts and labor.

Would the Tomei 264 be a better choice over the JWT cams ?

I'm also thinking of doing cams in spring, but not sure if it's worth the extra labour.

I have my ECU tuned by TS, would I need to tune it again after the install ?

I don't know much about the Tomei cams, but I do know that JWT puts out superior quality parts so I don't think you can go wrong with them.

I would definately get my ECU re-tuned after the cams if I were you.

Upgraded cams will allow you to run more power at a given boost level. This is almost always a good thing. Cams also reduce the thermal load on the motor.

From experience, we usually see about 30-40whp improvements, at a given pressure level. You also shift the power band about 500rpm to the left, which allows the engine to produce power nearly to redline, assuming you have a zero backpressure exhuast system.

What do you think the back pressure will be like with a HKS true dual exhaust and test pipes? also what is the diffrence between just doing cames and doing cams and springs

I have done the Tomei cams on several cars and they are more aggresive then the JWT. More aggressive = more power

I strongly recommend the Tomei and the Ferrera Valve train for anyone shooting for 650 Rwhp and beyond.
