So here is whats going on, my car is at GT Motorsports getting:
-TurboXS UTEC
-UTEC map sensor
-NGK spark plugs
-RC injectors 650cc
-new gaskets
fixing my boost leak on my intake manifold. They found 2 leaks on the upper gasket and the lower gasket where the injectors go.
They also found that one of my valve covers had an oil pool on it. causing the misfire on cylinder four.
They are also resealing my oil spacer because it is leaking.
They will be dynotunning my car also.
Most of this stuff I can fix myself but what am I supposed to do go there and fix it. Its too late for that now.
So anyways this whole ordeal is running me 3300 with tax. Am I getting srewed or is it ok? The good thing is that they are going to tune it to 450+ rwhp.

Gilbert,
That is a reasonable price for the scope and complexity of work that they will be doing.
The UTEC is plug & play but for FI you do have to run and mount the pressure sensor.
The UTEC is very complex and I would expect any reputable shop to charge between $550 - $750 for a complete tunning session with forced induction. If a shop quotes less (or tells you it can be done in less than three/four hours) they are not covering the full scope of an entire tune. There are many different ways to tune a vehicle, and unfortunatly too many shops either don't have the experience or fully understand what is involved.
Hope this helps,

You get what you pay for. I have heard good things about that shop... put some money in their pockets and your likely to get someone tuning your car who doesnt regret taking in the job. That is enough money to cover some serious tuning time and you should be able to expect the car to be tuned as well as possible.

I agree with the people that said "u get what you pay for." Its cheaper to pay a little more now, then to have to pay to get everything fixed and reinstalled later on if the job is bad.

so what do I do I riginally wanted the UTEC, map sensor, plugs, injectors and thats it. But they started finding a bunch of crap that was wrong with it. I know I had a boost leak, and the oil leak but I had no idea it would be that much. The thing is they already started. What do I do? They are also a really good shop and the reason I went with them is because I have heard alot of good stuff on them plus they are the only good reputable motorsports place around here. Everyone else is al about rice.
nevermindi just read your post.. sounds like your doing the right thing then.. just take this one in the ***.. next time try to take care of whatever you can on your own.. unless you get some buddies with a shop.. shops are a business and they cant hook everyone up.. its there lively hood and there job is to make money .. so you cant get mad.. that price is prob a average across the country if you polled but at least you now know your stuff will be done right and if not you can now hold them responsible.. also try to build a relationship with them and next time you need work they can hook you up..also send them some business..
thats the best advice i can give

if you got the cash to toss around, might as well just go for it... at least your in what is known to be good hands... if anything ever went wrong at least you dont have to kick yourself in the *** for going the cheap route. of course things can go wrong even in good hands, but your chances are always better with a proven tuner.
