The JWT clutch and flywheel has shown it can handle 500+ whp and is pretty reasonably priced

I'm running ACT Stage 3 6puck clutch and Nismo Flywheel. Handles well over 500 whp.

I would get the JUN flywheel. A chromolly wheel is much stronger than any aluminum wheel. They are also just as light.

I have the JWT clutch/fw. Good price and its proven. I would never spend $2000 on any Carbon clutch-dont let people fool you with the "it will be the last clutch you need" Ive seen people blow those at the track many times not even dragging what consider "hard", no clutch is worth that much.....

Hmmmm.... it seesm like a lot of the high horespower cars are using ATS. Don't you think there is a reason for that?

What have you seen people blow at the track? Exedy carbon maybe.... not an ATS.

Many Carbon Exedy's, iirc one ATS. On turbocharged IS300's(360-500whp). I havent seen a Z locally with one.

IMO, don't get a lightweight flywheel for a boosted app......the stock flywheel can help maintain momentum which is useful with a boosted car rather than a flywheel which is light and can drop the momentum easier.

i've done it on other cars, the light flywheel is nice on free revving but when shifting there's a noticeable lull

I just got the ACT 6puck unsprung clutch and JWT flywheel. The pedal pressure is slighty stiffer not bad for a daily driver, I don't even notice it now.
You will get a little chatter from the flywheel if your in to high of a gear and to low in the rpm range - I've corrected this with proper shifting on the new flywheel, it just took a little getting used to. The clutch does ingauge harder, it takes a 1400 - 2000 rpm rev to get a smooth launch in first and don't let the launch scare you the tire don't chirp or spin or wheel hop for me, just a slight vibration if I am not in that rpm range, the rest of the gears ingauge good to and are smooth shifting no vibration. All in all I am happy with mine, it just takes a little getting used to as I have only had my car back 4 days with the new clutch and flywheel. Let me know if you have any questions on this set up, I wil try to help.

Also heard the RPS 6puck and RPS flywheel are good - its originally what I was going with they were on back order though.

Turbonetics-everything except built motor...till next yr

I know what you mean. I went with a heavier flywheel.. Nismo..

Today was my first time driving in morning traffic with it.. The ACT holds up well.. Just need to get use to the rev points.. I noticed you can't keep it in the mid section for a long time.. the car will start bucking. Definately need to smoothly engage out as a set amount of time. I'm also letting the rpm's get a bit higher (2000-2500) before I even dare let the clutch loose. Clutch is perfect for smooth launches at the drag

the flywheel has 2 purposes. inertia and a place to engage the clutch, (ok 3 if you count the starter ring) i will not make the descision for you but give you my experiences. i just switched to the clutch masters fx400 and upgraded pressure plate and went back to the stock flywheel. it drives almost like stock, just engages a little quicker is all. now the clutch i changed from was the tilton rally dual disk. that thing is awesome for throttle responce and road course, but city driving will not be a good time at all!!! the clutch masters set up has gotten me thinking of a lightened flywheel again, as the stock one is so heavy and the difference is definately noticeable. for driveability, look for a set up that has a sprung clutch hub. it will absorb the chatter from the faster engagement.

No questyion in my mind a lightened flywheel is the way to go. I have a lightened flywheel and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I still say no, you lose the inertia from the flywheel and from my experience there's a noticeable "pause" after shifts as the flywheel picks up the momentum again.
