If you want to run 12's improve your launching skills and get some nice rear tires.

First of all. If you do not have the money to build the motor, do not turbo your car. There is still that 1% chance of something going wrong and you pop your motor.

That said, the stock kit is capable of mid-12 out of the box with an exhaust system. Get some sticky tires and practice your launches like everyone else has said.

It is not BS smart guy. If you cannot afford to lose, you shouldn't play. It is a simple fact that there is risk in using FI on this car. I stated 1% to let him know that although the TN kit is very safe ... there STILL is a chance that things can go wrong.

EDIT:
Re-reading my first statement .. is SHOULD say .. If you cannot afford to RE-build the motor (just about the same cost as building it), then you shouldn't do it. Simple fact is you need to be able to fix your car if something goes wrong.

I agree, there is always a chance anytime a N/A motor goes FI. The N/A motor isnt meant for boost, so supporting mods are necessary for proper operation.

still money or not....this motor has proven its ability to hold the boost........we have guys runnin 9psi with no probs..........so i think the VQ35 is worthy of aftermarket boost......just dont un the car untuned.....or overboost it........

Doesn't mean you have to have the money to rebuild the motor in the bank... but if you go FI be prepared to accept the risk. Also, beware of all the other things you need and want like: exhaust, multiple tunes/dyno, EMS, bigger tires/wheels, etc. There is always more. You have PM.

You will need a new clutch, exhaust, mechanical boost controller, UTEC w/tune, and a minimum 295 R compound tire. You may need 440 injectors, and a retrurn fuel system.

Then you will have the ability to run consistent low 12's.

THe turbonetics kit with exhaust and plenum is easily capable of mid to low 12s.... Rob/Miaplaya is a perfect example of this... He has 17K miles with his turbo and still going.. As long as you get a proper install and tune you should be good man.. dont trip.. If ur engine blows.. big deal build it stronger

Laww ran 12.4 @ 116 on 19's with a base map TN and a few additional mods. Its def possible you just have to be able to launch and drive the car. Easier said than done...

All you need is some good rubber and driving skill and you will get low 12's with the stock kit.

sorry guys i have been working, well i was running nitrous 75 shot and i ran 12.946 at 107.38 and my 60 was 2.004. im not really worrying about breaking 12s as im worrying i will be ashamed if i dont break my old time. i just dont want to pay thousand of dollars to be as fast as i was with a 400 dollar nitrous kit, but i dont like nitrous , it was cool for like a month and that was it.
