Default Getting close to starting her up

I got my short block back from SGP [ Great guys there , they did me right ] It sat at my local shop for a couple weeks , but they got started on it last week . Got the motor back together and in the car in 2 days . They were able to fit in the big a$$ IC 12+4+31 with only notching the bumper brace . They were also able to fit the 3in. Pipe from the IC to the throttle body , to get rid of the Plastic MAF pipe . He has the tranny cooler , sways and springs left to do . Its been really nice out all winter and Im sure as soon as they are done and I can do a short break in , it will start snowing and get cold . But if I can get 50 to 100 miles on it , change the oil . Im going to put it on the dyno and tune it . Think I'll keep it pretty safe till I get the Utec , in the spring

Bill ,
How sweet is that. I ended up selling the vortech and I am sitting on a greddy twin setup and my spare engine is at the machinist as we speak. Get it broken in and I want to see some numbers, that Vortech intercooler is itsy bitsy, should pick up power right there alone.

Ryan

Thumbs up Fmic

Bill - Thanks for doing the fitment for the bigger FMIC for me!! That's the one U & I had discussed together so now I'm sure it'll fit. I also decided on running an AquaMist injection setup as well.
AEBS emailed me yesterday & said that my block was done & will be shipped to Isbell by early next week. Then John's machinist will need a week or 2 for the headwork & other goodies! Hopefully by then U'll have dyno'ed your T-trim & I'll have an idea of some realistic goals. Good luck, my friend!!

Gene

Going up to the shop this afternoon . If they still have the bumper off , I'll take some pics for you . They did have to notch the bumper , he said he didnt need to take off much . He said the biotch , was putting in the 3in pipe from the IC to the TB . J Isbell even said he had a hell of a time getting up behind the blower

Wait..so if you had a stock internal 350z with the Vortech setup...could you potentially get a larger intercooler to mate with the setup? I like the Vortech..but that intercooler from an aesthetic standpoint I don't like.

Let me know.

Yes ...you can go with a bigger IC .

I just got back from the shop and they already had the bumper back on . Also my camera's batteries were dead ..LOL . They didnt have to notch the bumper brace much at all . Car is running , but they lost the AC belt , an exhaust gasket , And the EGT probe , so I wasnt able to hear or drive it yet . The 3 inch pipe from the IC to the TB , looked be a bear , and said they actually had to lube it up to get it passed an AC line .
For the guys looking to get a IC pipe to replace the MAF section . Mike the owner wasnt there so I wasnt able to talk to him about it . He ran mine a little different . As soon as I talk to him , and if he thinks its worth it to him , we'll work a price up and let you guys know

Vortech doesn't make their own intercoolers. They are made by Spearco. Spearco can get you any size core you want. For the Vortech kit they just make what Vortech tells them they want. But if you call Spearco (Turbonetics) they can get you any size core you ask for and end tanks to match. You just need the dimensions you want...or you can just call Turbonetics tell them you need a intercooler for a Vortech kit that is XXX size and they can probably custom make you whatever..

It's an Icevex 12+4+31 www.icevex.com You can order one from www.rabidperformance.com He can give it to you at even a cheaper price than on icevex's web site . They are a bar and plate design . Best price Ive seen on IC's . If you stay with the stock blower , I dont think you have to get that big of one though . You would also have to change the pipes a little for the bigger IC

Next week should be the last week my car sits at SGP. Full long block, no cams for the rev-up yet so I will have to stick it about 550whp. Still pretty sweet. Again, hopefully, if all goes well, I will get it back next week. Booger, good luck with your setup brother. Get us some pics and dyno numbers.

Good luck to you to . I'll be lucky to get over 450whp on a Mustang dyno . You will not have any problems going over 500whp I'm sure

Had it dyno'd at 421whp @ 6 psi so 500whp should be no problem. I will be able to reach 15-19 psi boost with no problem. I just don't have the cams yet that would most likely get to super high end whp. My block is rated for the big whp at 600+whp. Will take cams and more head work to make that happen though.
