Default UTEC MAP Selector Switch & stock Blank?

Has anyone managed to fit the UTEC MAP selector switch into the stock blank and mount it next to the VDC switch?

I just received the switch (thanks to lightening fast overnight shipment by MRC) and it looks like the connector at the other end needs to be removed to get a stock blank onto the wire. Is there an easy way to do that without ruining the connector? Has anyone done this? I am also wondering if the cable will be long enough to reach to the VDC button. Looks a little short to me (but I have not held it up in the car yet).

The UTEC is really great but I wish TurboXS would have completed everything. For what they get for this little switch, it ought to have the correct mounting blank and length. I really do not want to have to find a ghetto mounting location for this thing or start splicing it to make it longer.

CPR mounted Yate's switch on an available rocker panel in the center arm rest area. Looked very OEM. Just watch those elbows. We now copy the tuned map into all 5 locations, in the unlikely event that someone accidentically switches the maps.

yeah thats one of the reasons I'd really like to put it next to the VDC switch in the empty slot. Plus it is pretty much out of sight there.

It looks like it is in fact long enough as far as the route is fairly straight through the back of the dash. There is not a lot of extra though.

I managed to get the stock blank out of the dash and am ready to dremel it.
But before I do that...
Does anyone know if you can remove the connector without ruining it or is my best best to cut the wire and splice it back together again?
Anyone?

heh good idea sharrif. it'd suck if someone switched it to map 4 if theres only 2 maps ><.

Btw, is it possible to place the switch in the VDC area on cars w/o VDC?? Also, does UTEC eff up the mpg gauge since it takes over the injector duty's?

The UTEC still scales the injectors via MAF offset at idle and cruise, so your MPG gauge will still read inaccurately.

We mounted mine next to the VDC, but we did have to extend the wires. I looks pretty good

Thanks. Any idea how much longer you had to make it?

We extended it about a foot, just so it wasn't a direct "B-line"... we had a little slack.
