Default back to her old tricks again.

after finding out my exhaust was VERY restrictive, and fixing that problem, the car was running strong. i had the WG spring adjusted for about 7 psi, and it was holding it 100% till redline. the car ran the best it had ever ran.

well, i wanted more so i tightened down the rod some more, hoping to get 9 or 10 psi, it didnt happen. it seems as if the more i tighten the rod, the worse the boost acts.

ive tested a few methods. it was holding boost 100% when i had the EBC off and it was just running off spring pressure. the boost climbed much slower but it held it. with the EBC on, the boost climbs fast, and higher, then dropped just a bit, maybe 1psi.

i test drove it today, and the boost still only goes to about 8, with the EBC off, and drops a psi. with the EBC on, it drops even more. its like my damn car gets used to running good, then decides to **** me off. its like its fighting me.

i have noticed that since around the time i got the resonator cut out, the cars AFR has been a tad leaner, at idle its around 15.5-15.9, where it used to idle at 14.7 on the nose. now, at full boost its only around 12.5, where it used to be around 11.5

i wonder if that hole in the turbo is causing it, or my flex joint breaking down, or the car running a little leaner.

damn i feel like im in the twilight zone, just got back from a long spirited drive with 10-15 hard pulls, all is normal, boost builds and holds, i dont know what the hell is going on. and the AFR was back to normal.

i did find out something interesting. on my EBC, you can choose AC/WG, i usually run on AC since i have the internal WG. well, i was worried that the spring wasnt really rated at what i was told because the boost didnt increase with turning the rod. i decided to switch to WG, the first pull i hit 15 psi. WTF??? plus my limiter didnt work and restrict boost. so i made another pull, by 5000 rpms i was at 16psi. WTF??? i guess the spring pressure is right, hehe. but why does it not work if set at AC?

whats the difference in AC/WG, i know it means actuator vs. external WG, but why do my setting not apply if i choose WG?

I'm assuming you have the Blitz SBC? The routing is entirely different between internal wg/actuator setups and external wg setups. If you have it set on the wrong setting, the solenoid simply won't control boost properly (which leads to spikes).

the routing isnt much different, the boost line goes to both the external WG and the internal WG the same. so it should pretty much be the same. i just dont know why the boost control is different.
