Default -=-=Turbonetics ST help on BOV=-=-

So how many people have installed a Turbonetics kit? does anybody know an aproximation??

1 more thing, I just got my turbonetics kit installed. And i love the sound of the BOV but i have one question. When im in neutral i rev is up and release... very quiet sound... in my SRT4 its loud when im in neutral. The BOV releases due to pressure built-up. is there anyway to get it to blow off louder when its in neutral at a stoplight or w/e??? thanks

At only 8 psi you can't ask for much.

Rev to redline. That's about the only way I've found. Even then it won't be that loud as you will only build about 3 lbs of boost or so. Is it like this on the tt's as well?

Buy a motordyne spacer or new plenum, before this mod, I heard nothing the BOV didn't actuate, but after this mod and a free flowing exhaust, I can rev to 5000 and hear a distinct pshhhh, everytime driving or not. Just my $.02.

that's the thing about SRTs. doesn't matter how much power the thing is making, every ricer driving one sets off his BOV about 30 times idling thru a parking lot. I don't want my Z to do that, it's annoying.

The Z runs a turbo large enough that it doesn't build boost except under load. at idle or even revving while not in gear, the engine doesn't build boost enough to need to blow off.

Mike hit it right on the head. This turbo is pretty big so it does not build up enough pressure at a stand still (no load on motor) to have a HUGE vent. Not to mention the discharge port of the Raptor is pretty big so its not going to make the sound any more accentuated. IMHO a BOV like the Raptor is what I prefer. One large port to vent the air. Function over form in my book. Although the Raptor does sound sweet when it does blow off.

what if he changed the blow-off valve to like a hks SS? would that change the noise at idle?

I doubt it would do much...the turbo isn't going to build anymore pressure at idle due to a BOV change...

I'm a diverter valve kinda guy. the Forge 007 diverter valve sounds freakin sweet....however with the TN setup theres no real need for it (though it could be done, pita, but possible). I mainly did it on my other car because it was draw thru and non-recirculation meant car=stalling, haha.
