Default Vortech 1/8th mile for you FI guys. (PICS INSIDE)

I put this here instead of the DRAG section because a lot of FI guys dont really visit that section. I know I usually dont. So I thought I'd put it here for all of the FI guys to see what a Vortech can do at the track. First of all, on the way to the track I had a run with a 99 C5 vette with intake and exhaust. we went from 60 to 135 or so, by the end I had about 2 or 3 cars on him i think.

We dont have a 1/4 mile track anywhere around here so i had to settle with the local 1/8th mile track.

A while back i got an 8.9 1/8th and 13.5 1/4 mile in Rockingham N.C.

Today I managed to pull off a half second faster than my previous personal best. Went from an 8.9 E.T. at 78 MPH to 8.4119 E.T. at 86.87 MPH. I figure this would be good for high 12's since I was a half second faster by the 1/8th mark.

i attached a few time slips. the last pic is of one of my timeslips held next to the acceloremeter. damn thing showed the exact same 1/8th mile time. The mph was slower on the acceloremeter then what i actually ran. pretty cool toy though.

I think our local 1/4 mile track has closed , we will find out in a month or so . So we are stuck with the 1/8th mile also . What did you add to the car to get your speed up and time down ?

i have 7.9 on my 12.3 run

looking through a lot of time tickets, you should be able to pull off high 12s on really wide drag radials or on some slicks,

you should pick up 21 or 22 mph on the second 1/8th, so you would be trapping 107-108

maybe possible with a good good run on street tires

i am 8.2 on a couple 12.6 and 12.8 runs

i am 8.3 on a few 12.9 and 13.0 runs

nice to see more people putting some quarter mile times down Good job!!!

i have my beltronics sitting here but no lighter plug in for it up front so i havent used it in the Z

i didnt do anything to improve the time. i am however hitting 1 more lb of boost from when it was tuned. i had the car tuned at cpracing back in august and ran it that day. and could only manage a 13.5 1/4 mile at 109 mph. wheel hopping bad. yesterday i managed to to get the 8.4 somehow even with some wheel hop.

Backagain,, you seem to have one of the highest Tq Vortech's on the forum.. What other mod's do you have and 1. do you have a dyno and 2.what do you believe accounts for your Tq...Thanks

I think its more of the dyno used. I think that car supposedly made 400whp which IMO a true 400whp car would trap higher than 109 @ 3400lbs approx.

Not sure why i have that much tq, 342 is nice but would still like to have more. i also have headers, test pipes and a borla td exhaust. as well as the 3.12 pulley for the vortech. I would actually think that would make less tq because of the lack of backpressure. at less than 8 lbs of boost i was getting 400 hp and 342 tq. im now hitting just over 9 lbs of boost. going to a dyno on saturday to check and see how it's running. i'll keep everyone updated.

Actually my numbers are from a dyno dynamics dyno at cpracing. Dyno dynamics is supposed to be the most accurate dyno to actual wheel hp that is produced. (so i've been told)

I actually plan on coming back in a few months to get some more stuff done. methenol injection kit. 2.87 pulley, upgraded blower, new plenum, and utech with 550c injectors. hoping to put down around 480-500 wheel hp out of the vortech kit. as far as i know the highest right now is 475 from a member here. he calls himself the vortech king. maybe i can change that . i wish i was able to get some video but my buddy left his camera at home. here are some pics of me staging against a c6 vet. (i beat him )

I raced this car on the way to the track, did a 60 roll to about 140 or so, had 2 or so car lenghts on him, 99 vette with intake and exhaust.

Nice job. NA I did 8.4 @ 84 and I ran 13.1 @ 107mph, with your better top-end, your pretty much guaranteed high 12's. Try to get your 60ft down to a 2.0 or even a 1.9, then you'd be much better off....

yea, if i could manage to pull of a 2.0 60 ft im sure i'd be in the 12's easy. some drag radials should help me out a lot.

I know that much, its just the fact that CP using a pretty high correction factor that has been in question for some time for inflating numbers.

I would agree if CP didn't use a huge correct factor but they do which inflates numbers that supposedly read like a dyno jet would. There was a big debate about this with the 03 Z putting down 317whp NA without cams on there dyno.
