Default CARB Legal FI kits?

Is Stillen still the only CARB certified and CA legal FI kit available? I know Greddy has CARB #'s for some of their kits, but after researching their website and a couple others, neither state conclusively whether or not it is. Anyone know of other options?

Best Regards,

Sonny

JWT Twin Turbo Kit is currently going through CARB approval/certification. Hopefully we will hit that hit the markets in a few months.

Stillen and Vortech are the only 2 with CARB right now.

JWT is still having some issues passing the CARB cert, but they are working very hard to get through them.

All TTs will have issues with cold start emissions. I know because the GReddy kit for testing is on my car and they are awaiting a test date to see if it passes.

Last I heard, APS submitted their kit for CARB exemption in December. They did mention that they were having a very hard time getting it even close to Ca emission standards. In this case, I wouldn't hold my breath.

USN HM 350Z, where did you confirm that the Vortech is CARB exempt? I looked at their website and it still read "CARB PENDING".

Seems like JWT has been working a very long time to get CARB exemption. There hasn't been any real progress since Sept. In reality, most of the systems on the market which is legal in other states may remain in "pending" status for a very long time and NEVER get CARB exemption.

The only way I can think of getting away with that is if the car is registered from a person LIVING in AZ. If you get stopped in Cali. for the out of state plate, and you show a Cali driver's license, you'll get cited and you'll be forced to get it registered in Cali.

I just received some firm info on the CARB emission numbers for the APS TT system from our engineering department, the news is good and bad, the good news first.

After viewing the emission test results APS is right on the border of achieving a CARB emission pass, the bad news is that the emission numbers were so close to the allowable CARB limit that the Lab wants to run another series of engine emission tests to verify the first set of emission numbers. The emission lab was very impressed with how clean the exhaust emissions were on the first test, all good so far.

I will keep you all updated when I get the next set of emission results from the engine emission test lab.

Peter

The main population centers in Arizona have emissions testing. Here there are small towns that do not and you could register it there but there are several problems with that approach.

1) It is illegal. The vehicle is supposed to be registered where you live.
2) There may also be an insurance issue unless it is insured where it is registered.
3) The town in which you register it may very well ask for proof of residency especially if they know your last residency had emissions testing. Arizona, at least, is on to this ploy of avoiding emissions for state residences. Don’t ask me how I know.
4) When the vehicle is eventually sold you may be liable unless you advise the new owner that the vehicle is not emissions legal.

The turbo kit companies trying to gain Carb approval are not doing it for the hell of it.

The search button on this website sent me to a thread that had this document in it. http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/pdf/D-213-22.pdf

Maybe I just know how to use the search button better than you. Maybe you're just lazy.
