Which SuperCharger?
I know there is a battle between Vortec & Procharger but why would anyone **** a HKS supercharger?
I'm really at a loss of words for anything positive to say about it, not to offend anyone who has one. They are small, make low boost, tiny pansy as* intercoolers. How about the weak #'s they are putting out. I think HKS is taking a closer look and will either make something big enough to flow some major air or just scrap it all together. I've got respect for Vortec because I've seen what they can do with built mustangs and the bigger musclecars

Trefling my Z should be in MRC tomorrow getting UTEC installed and tuned for my procharger set up.. what bugs are you trying to work out?>
I'm expecting some major gains compared to the 412rwhp and 380rwtq I'm getting now and I know there is a ton of timing pulled right now. I feel very confident that Sharif can easily get 500+ with 17-18psi and water/meth injection. It will be interesting to see how far we can advance the timing with a couple gallons of C16 and water/meth injection with tunable maps to progressivly increase the spray intensity/flow.
I know Booger is working on something big for his Vortec too. I don't think it will be too long before a supercharger here hits 500rwhp without NOS.
Anyone here who wants a EU that's only about 4 months can have mine for $250

haha ive seen you talk about your "little no intercooler project" but thats the first time ive seen the details.. sounds good i think you & booger will be braking some hearts and thats a damn good price for teh EU

When do you and Sharif plan to tune ? Not making any promises , but I hope to be done by mid April and go to the Zfest in Branson . The 1/4 mile track closed up and have no where to find out what it will do . Im sure you'll be way over my head as HP goes , with out that IC in place and the W/M injector.

maybe because the HKS is outperforming the other superchargers even at lower "peak" power numbers and boost.

But as of date who do you know that has a high hp/tq over say 400 at the wheels who has the HKS blower?

No worries ove over boosting vs others.

IF ANYONE IS LOOKING AT VORTECH...THERE IS A GREAT DEAL ON A KIT WITH 2 BLOWER UNITS INCLUDED IN THE KIT IN THE CLASSIFIEDS . His name is Ryan
Need to add...its a tuner Kit . The S-trim blower is polished , the SC-trim is satin

LOL.. guess you can keep thinking that "peak" hp number is a real performance measure.
I compared dyno charts and a 330hp HKS kit is putting out MORE AVERAGE power than a 408hp Vortech.
Besides. You can just change the pulley on the HKS, retune and be at 400whp. (yes.. it has been done)

oh god are we really starting this up again? Can the HKS intercooler cool the air enough for 400whp? I'm guessing maybe for the street, but not for 20 min road course sessions in 100 degree weather. Or has that been tested too?
where's a good dyno of the HKS?

i cant comment on the intercooler.. i dont know if it will run a 20 minute roadcoarse in 100 degree weather.. i can also say that i dont know anyone that would be doing that anyways..
moving on:
The Rotrex charger can be smaller than a vortech charger because is spins faster.
Vortech: 50,000rpm max
Rotrex: 120,000rpm max
The only reason the HKS kit is not making more power is because nobody had tried. Everyone keeps saying "HKS sucks!" because out of the box it does not give you 500whp. Geez.. The Greddy kit blows engines out of the box because it lacks timing control. I dont see anyone saying Greddy sucks.
Easy changes to the HKS:
-Smaller pulley
-Full injector replacements
More involved:
-Larger intercooler
Those 3 changes will yield as much if not more than the Vortech.
All this being said.. HKS has stopped production of their Rotrex kit becuase they are copying the charger and infringing on patents LOL! Bastards!
There is another Rotrex system coming out (not by HKS) that will exceed all other supercharger systems available in quality, reliability, and performance.. I cant say who is working on this, but know that a prototype should be done later this year.

why would someone not run an HKS on a road course? That's a pretty severe limitation don't you think?
I give the rotrex blower full credit for being probably the best blower unit.
but support does count for something. There's a huge knowledgebase about the vortech and stillen kit, and only a few people are running the HKS and most of them probably never take their car on the track because it just wasn't designed to cope with heat with that stock intercooler. The HKS kit just didn't sell very well
For someone that is willing to go the custom route, I think a rotrex blower is a great option. I wonder if anyone can mate it up with the vortech parts, but it'd really probably be a lot of work.
If HKS isn't offering the kit anymore, this really is a dead subject - because a new FI person can't buy it...
