Default Head gasket for FI

Are any of you guys using the Cometic MLS Head Gasket. my buddy has it on his s2000 to lower his compression so he can run more boost. Also would this effect the reflash of the TN kit.
Thanks

It would change your timing some if you went with a larger HG to lower compression. On this motor unless you are doing cams at the same time it would cost alot of money just for to put in some HG(8-10 shop hrs). You do know we have a multilayer metal head gasket stock.

Swapping head gaskets without doing an engine build-up were be pretty cost ineffective. To answer your question, many of us are using the Cometix/Cosworth MLS headgaskets. They come in 96, 98, and 100mm sizes. All in stock. http://www.forgedinternals.com/store...cat=264&page=1 $200 shipped for the pair.

We've used Cometic on a couple of different builds. They make a good headgasket.

hey sharif had a question along these lines. latley weve been talking about how to get more boost out of the Z as you know with the high compression problem that we have and we were thinking about the head gaskets and lowering the compresion. somone said haveing a thicker one would lower the compression significantly and i was just wondering if that would be beneficial since i have a built motor or if it would not really help. if it would help what size would you reccomend. enlighten me please . haha thanks

I answered it earlier. We've done 2mm HG's on Hondas without leakage, so yes its perfectly doable. But with a Honda, an HG swap takes a couple hours...on the Z, its about 20 hours. Hence, my point was that its not feasible. Might has well build you bottom end while you are at it.

KTaylor, see above..same thing applies. It would be pretty costly to swap. Also, does anyone know any off the shelf 2mm HG's for the VQ35?
