boys... A/C heater problem and car over heated.... help!!!
Hi guys,
I noticed that the A/C heater doesn't work at all even if I turn the dial all the way to the hottest setting... but it still blows cold air though... it just suddenly becomes like this and I have booked in for the dealer to check that out tomorrow...
But this morning, my car got over heated (after about 2 miles of driving from cold and the temperature went all the way to "H") and the coolant flew out from the reserver tank... I was like WTF.. this was actually the first time that happened to me.... and I got the car towed to the workshop and had the pressure checked out, nothing's wrong with the car, so they filled in some more coolant for me (although the reserver tank is way over filled), I took it for a spin and suddenly got the heater back... but just for a few minutes.... and it is gone again now.... but the car never overheats again from then though...
Does any of you know what's the problem here? Please give me some ideas on what should I ask nissan dealer to look into...
EDIT: I got a hissing noise coming up from the radiator cap.... is that normal????
thanks heaps!!!
cheers,
richie

yeah.... it was screwed on all the way.... I put the standard radiator cap back on already... but the heater still doesn't work... BTW, found the coolant in the reserver tank is SOOOO HIGH... a lot higher than the "Max" level and this is the first time I see that being so high though..

You do not have a problem with low coolant, you have air in your system. The whole system needs to be evacuated and re-filled. Take it to Nissan and they will hook up a tool to remove the air. This has happened to me before. Just do not drive as it will overheat quickly and the stock guage will not even move until you hit 220+.
had the same thing happen 3 times to me. 1 its probably a bad thermostat, i switched to the Nismo thermostat and that was worse for me, so I kept the stock one in now. 2, its probably air in the system as well. So you just gotta get the air out and probably replace the thermostat.

Air trapped is acting like a insulator, which is creating a hot spot in your system. Get all the air out of the system.
You don't need to take it to a dealer - really easy to do. Open the bleeder valve on the coolant system - passanger side, between the engine and firewall. Fill with coolant until you see water come out. Close bleeder, elevate the front end of the car, fill radiator - run engine and turn on heater and keep filling the radiator. Run for about 10 min. Put cap on - done.
Now if you still have problems - it will be your thermostat.

thank all of you guys!!! it is most likely just some air bubbles in the system... after filling in the car and did the bleeding myself last night.... everything seems fine now and I FINALLY get the heater back!!!
Appreciate for all the helps guys!!!
