I agree. I wasn't trying to debate the merits, though. I just wanted to see if there was an option for us folks who already have UTEC.

Hey MIA, thanks for a great update, and comprehensive list of the different stages.

Not sure if this question was already answered, but is there a plan to offer a Stage II kit, without the Q Unichip and fuel system: Essentially a Stage II tuner kit? Only reason I ask, is that some users may already have TN kits with optional UTEC, and are simply looking to upgrade to the larger turbocharger.

Once again, I hope this doesnt turn into an ECU pissing contest. TN is factoring in a lot of different things when they selected the UNICHIP.

OK one final question...I promise!

Since I live in PA and they have emission testing I need to run cats. Does the TN kit with the cat option have 2 or 1 cat? Looking at the pipeing and how it meets up with the exhaust. I have the Borla TD system and just want to make sure there isn't any issues with the install.

...but I have a feeling there will be.

The Turbonetics kit runs one cat on the downpipe. There should be no issue using the Borla with a reverse y pipe...

Noice, I think that decision will pretty much double the market opportunity for the Stage II setups.

Why? Because waiting a few months will give you a fully R&D'd system with a very capable EMS included. Its a bit more economical to wait a little longer for Turbonetics to release their kit rather than paying more for 3rd party components. So, unless you're very concerned with the operation of your car on the reflash and can't wait, it would be in one's best interest to hold off for a month to weigh the possibilities.

As far as the UTEC being the best on the market. You're probably right, but I'm interested in seeing how the Q+ Unichip stacks up. It certainly looks promising.

And, please, lets not start an EMS debate, like Sharif suggested...

Why doesn't Turbonetics Offer them as an Option - rather than every True Dual costomer hand craft their own?

Inquiring minds - want to know... ???

Cheers Amy -

Covered in the other thread. There are too many different types of TD exhausts and exhaust manufacturers to make a single reverse y-pipe to fit them all. It's easier to just have it custom made for each application.

+1

That would require Turbonetics to source EVERY true dual exhaust available and fab up different reverse ys for each exhaust and THEN have to ask the customer which exhaust they have and ensure the the customers exhaust shop cuts them at the right place and uses the right flange. This scenario only works if you are building your own true dual exhaust sepcifically for your reverse y pipe. Turbonetics feels that customers would prefer to run whatever they want and not have to go with just THEIR exhaust so they leave that open to the customer. How many times does this need to be covered in one week?
