The difference between aftermarket performance designed turbochargers is vast when compared to factory conventional sleeve bearing turbochargers. To compare a conventional sleeve bearing factory/OEM turbocharger to an aftermarket one is like comparing apples and oranges. If you want a reference for turbochargers you may consider reading some of Mike Kojima's work on turbocharging. BTW he IS an engineer for Nissan. Oh and Mercedes Benz ALSO uses turbochargers in several AMG applications. SL65 I belive use twin turbos. Oh yeah and it makes A LOT more power then the Roots blower model car.

Seriously dude what kind of arguement are you trying to make here? Low boost in either form along with complimenting supporting parts make either one reliable as long as the owner takes car of the car.
Thing is when you want to make the big power. Realistically you will not be able to make the same kind of numbers with a roots charger... Even if it is so huge that you could not use your OEM hood, imagine the strain of trying to turn those screws... I see alot of snapping belts.
It isn't like either design can rival that of a A-Bomb or the design of like a space station here... So trying to push your feelings on how the Eaton design is far beyond a typical turbo coming to reliability doesn't make any sense.
And if you think Nissan is now designing a "turbo car" then even more... Wow... How clueless are you? Turbo'd cars from the factory have been going on for quite some time and Nissan has had many good ones in their stable.

actually they were plastic compressor wheels on the rb25det's and utilized ceramic turbine wheels, which aided in excellent spoolup....but now turbo design is so good, no need for plastic or ceramic wheels.
the only time those turbos with plastic wheels didn't last is if you upped the boost a bit.

not that I'm bashing stillen, but there is another very popular thread right now titled "stillen stage 4 , no power gain"
and in my defense, I haven't read it in awhile..but I know that for the cost to go from a stillen stage 3 to a stillen stage 4...I could spend my money on engine components for my turbonetics kit and realize gains w/o having to worry about it.

if SC are antique (especially roots Eaton) and Turbos are better, more reliable, more everything , then i find it very odd to see that in their 2006-2007 most expensive cars manufacturers like: Range Rover , Benz, Jaguar, Dodge,...all went back and used that antique blower?????????????
perhaps they made a mistake and they should have asked you smart asses what to do!!!!!

Man this thread has gotten real interesting. Got my attention. I have been going back and forth on the idea of going FI. My original choice was going SC but unfortunately can't with the 35th AE 300hp motor. However Turbo is still an option. I have only 8k miles on mine and really leery about adding a turbo at this point. I unloaded some NA mods to be keep it running on the safe side but the gains Turbo is so tempting especially seeing the number of Turbonetic owners out there. I have read several threads on FI and have no problem shelling out more but I can't make up my mind if it's really worth it.
