Check the code. Even though the SES light isn't on, there will be a dtc code in the computer's memory.

That may be the utec picking up knock and retarding timing..It flashes the SES light on the WRX one to let you know its knocking.

I think most codes will stay for 100 start-ups after it pops up, then it will clear. Dont worry it will be there...

Usually a flashing code means you are misfiring at that time...

eBay! I'll read it for you on Saturday.

The time it stays is dependent on the type of code.

P300, from rich, lean condition or fouled plugs...Check A/F at that load point and check plugs..

It is weird that the light would flash like that from a po300. I'd bet he did get a knock event and the PO300 is a seperate issue. I'd expect the SES light may come on if you drive the car more.
Your a/f looked a little lean in places to me.

The last time I saw an SES light come on while driving and blink was when my friend blew his motor with his procharger

I can see it. Your AFR doesn't look bad. It appears to hover between 11.5:1 and 11.9:1, which is fine, but getting close to 12. If you're interested in running safe, you might want to richen it up to 11-11.5:1 depending on how much timing you're running.

Depending on your timing, 12.0 af may be too lean.
