Car is getting re-tuned on Tuesday, need advice
I have a 7 psi map for daily driving, now with a boost controller, perrin, anyway, I know I am going to make a 9.5 psi map, but I am curious is it worth it to make a race fuel map? I plan on using the good stuff, 116 octane, I have no cats, realistically how much more power can be made with this set-up?
I have been told numerous power gain stories, one of which yielded an extra 40 whp, I haven't seen any dynos, but I am very curious, any advice will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks
Craig

116 all the time. lol hope you feel like buying 5 new o2 sensors, every fill up, you know its leaded. I use 109 unleaded. 10 gallons on 93 and 3 on 109 pretty nice mix IMO.
If you tune for straigth 116 you can make 500 easily.

I know it is leaded, lol. I have thought about a 100 octane tune, but can't decide. I thought about the o2 sensor, but this 116 map will be used maybe once or twice a month at max for dragging.
really 116 is for track use only, some people put it in there car. I know a few honda guys that run it alot, and burn out o2s like crazy, but they get them for cheap. sunoco makes 109 unleaded. Ask tuner shops that race, theyll say 116 is mostly for a track and you dont really wana put it in your street car
^you can tune for 9.5 psi on pump, i know a guy that self tuned his APS kit to 9.5psi (because it ran so rich) i just add the 109 in for safety and the car runs smoother, but i have never tuned for it for power on 109, just lower AF's
Just trying to pick up some easy hp for the track. Is it worth it? 9.5 psi will be the limit on boost. To those that don't know, I now have a aam return fuel system and 650cc injectors with the perrin boost solenoid, if that helps, and yes it is PIG RICH, lol, until the tune.

Yes its worth it for the track. Even if you did the same boost as your street map, the 116 will allow you to run much more agressive timing(as much as 8-10 degrees). I plan on doing this sooner or later at my current 9-10psi set-up.
It is almost always worth it to have a high octane map tuned specifically for your car as long as it's within your budget. This way if you ever decided to go out to the roadcourse or the drags you can switch maps over, fill her up, and enjoy!
