i didn't have time to read through all the pages here, but has anyone successfully completed a diy turbo project and kept a resonable budget? i am pretty darn resourceful and have all the tubing available to me and welders, but for others, was it worth the savings? i got my greddy kit used w/ a 1000 miles from a member for dirt cheap, so maybe my comparison is skewed abit, as i know nothing could be built cheaper than what i paid.
i just watched the guys make a $6000 set of headers, lol. couldn't imagine theprice of turbos and intercooler etc. on top of that.

$6000 set of headers!!! Must have been some crazy long tube headers of something crazy!!

My header should olny cost somewhere in the realms of $500-600 as they are not complicated at all as there is no need to be.

ya, the headers were for a first gen. chevelle drag car. engine built by sonny's, wicked big inch small block. had to have equal length 2" primaries with very specific specs from sonny's shop. they actually had over 110 hours into these things.

good luck with the project.

Well I have been doing some research and I sould be able to make my turbo kit for somewhere around the neighborhood of $4-4.5K. I will be adding a built motor and some other things that would be standard upgrades for most who buy a kit (such as larger injectors and UTEC).
