Default L19 Extreme Duty Head Studs have arrived!

After a long wait, our production run of ARP L19 head studs have arrived. As you will recall, since the standard ARP studs can only be trqed down to 65ft/lbs, people are having issues with head lift.

These L19 head studs are a direct drop in replacement for factory head bolts, or the standard ARP studs. No block modifications or extra labor are required. These studs can be torqued down to 90-95ft/lbs, for a 40%+ increase in clamping force. Kits include studs, washers and nuts, are have an allen key hole for easy installation and removal.

If you pre-ordered, your item will be shipping immediately.

More information, and orders can be placed here:

We have been using these studs for awhile on Supra 2JZ motors.they work really well andI think Sharif is being a little conservative when he says 95 ft/lbs:^)We have torqued them way beyond that.

Here is the link: http://www.forgedinternals.com/store...7&cat=0&page=1 $490 shipped for the set.

Tim is right. L19 studs, depending on their diameter, can usually be trqed to between 100-170ft/lbs without distorting. It is a very strong material. However, with the factory aluminum block, I think 90-95ft/lbs is a good conservative estimate. My partner in crime tested the thread strength of the block to 110 ft/lbs before the threads in the block let go. Therefore, we are suggesting 90-95ft/lbs.

Okay so with these studs, OZ1's head strengthening studs, and Cometec head gaskets....do you think that's good enough for 600whp?

Yessir.
As long as the car is properly tuned, and cooled. These upgraded studs are great, but detonation will knock out any stud/HG package pretty quickly and very violently.

Nice. Now I just wish it were easier to access the head studs in our cars

I may hold off until I start showing symptoms of lift and just pull the motor and do studs and head gaskets all together.

Can the heads be taken off with out pulling the motor ? Or is it just easier to do it that way . My shop mentioned pulling the motor because it would be easier to access the front of the motor .

Yes you can, but it is much easier to do with the engine removed. Overall, its going to be faster to remove the engine, complete the work, and then reinstall the engine.

I wish I could but I can't return them to my supplier either.

L19 is just a lot more expensive stud. Same deal with the supra. These are actually cheap in comparison.

The L19 studs are perfect for someone who is pushing the limits on an unsleeved block... they are the same size as stock, but much much stronger. They can be installed without any machining, so the price is really appropriate. L19 studs are much more expensive to manufacture than standard ARP studs.

Glad you finally got them in Sharif, perfect timing too, now that cylinder head lift is such a hot topic

As mentioned, L19 steel is much more expensive that standard steel ARP studs. And becuase these are custom made for us, the costs are higher than an off the shelf ARP part. If you check what others are charging for Supra, Evo, and other studs made from L19 you'll find these priced very competitively.

You can buy 1/2 ARP standard steel studs for $250, but you'll spend a few hundred more on install. These studs are most appropriate for those trying to maximize power on an unsleeved block, as Todd mentioned.

One last note, engines built by BuiltZMotors, and Import Parts Pro will be offering these studs as a customer option.
