New 2005 350Z Performance Edition Owner - TT or SC???
Here is my dilemma:
I love my 350Z.
My last cars were:
2005 - Nissan 350Z - Silverstone - 6 speed
2005 Yellow Vette Convertible/ Black top - auto
Magnaflow Catback - 12.57@110.67 (1.92 60')
2003 Torch Red Anniversary Cobra - SOLD
492rwhp/481rwtq SAE - 11.84@120.57 (1.85 60')
2001 Viper GTS Yellow/Black Stripes - SOLD
11.67@120.56 (1.68 60')
2003 Cobra - Yellow - 445rwhp/452rwtq SAE - SOLD
12.22@116.8 (1.93 60')
1992 Blown Mustang LX Vert - 461rwhp SAE - SOLD
11.2@124.56 (1.81 60')
and a 1999 327rwhp/338rwtq SAE WS6 Trans Am 6 speed. SOLD
I miss some of the top end oomph of my other cars.
I want my 350Z to be able to retain stock internals (engine), stock light clutch, stock 18" rims and tires, yet have enough power to run 12s at the strip@113-115+.
In fact, my 2005 Vette Vert automatic runs 12.57@110.67 on a 1.92 60' STOCK and will top out at 170+, I consder this perfectly streetable and safe power.
My ultimate goal would be to have my 350Z run right with my Vette, yet be totally reliable and dependable. I don't want any issues that I have had before with blown Mustangs such as Blown pistons, trannies, etc...
What would be a GREAT set-up fot my car and who in the Tri-State area is the best to do the work. I am right outside Philly PA.
I'd like to retain stock exhaust and most stock pieces except for the SC or Turbo and I would like something that could be converted back to stock rather easily.
Please don't hit me with any "SEARCH" button comments a I would hate to have to find you and b-tch slap you
You know I hve searched.
Also, what kind of cost are we talking about, $5000, $7500, $10,000....
I think a Procharger seems to be the simplest set-up, but a TT seems to provide better gains.
Please be honest and help.
My fastest car to date that I would love to emulate was my 2001 Viper GTS that ran 11.67@120.56 on a 1.68 60' on R-compund Kumhos. but my BAD BACK that is going to require surgery within the next month requires me to have a comfy car like the 350Z.
If you guys can't help I'd hate to have to trade her in on another C6 Vette.
Thanks in advance,
Howard

my choice would be TT.. thats because i like torque..
but the SC guys are going to come and tell you why they like SC's..
then when you create your second thread asking which TT Kit.. you are going to get another flood of do this.. do that..
Asking these questions are like going on a Honda Board and asking wether to get a Civic SI, DX, EX .. etc...
all will have their benefits.. just depends on what your needs are..
i think the most important thing is to find an installer / tuner in your area first before choosing what type of FI

Hmm after reading that i would say you should have bought a comfy m5.Any fi application owner must be reasy to rebuild its that simple.Safest fi seems to be a stillen but thats not going to quite get you were you want to go.
search around there are many FI apps plenty of info on here or 350zmotoring to make a decision.

You guys make some GREAT points.
One of the reasons I love the 350Z is the Torquey NA V6, almost like a V8, but too much torque and then you need to run Drag Radials and your car handles like a Lead Sled.
A TT is nice because there is always room to grow to 450-500rwhp and have a true sports car that can hunt down some new Z06s at twice the price.
A supercharger is nice because, even though torque is down at low rpms, it allows you to run on regular tires and then really takes off at the mid-high rpm range.
I am just looking for real world experience and what seems to make most people happy.
To be honest,
Give me a reliable Daily Driver that can crank out 11.9s-12.3s all day long at 115-120mph on easy 1.9 60's and I'll be a HAPPY CAMPER!
But, the question remains:
Is it possible or should I just trade it in on another C6 Coupe with a 6 speed?
I just love having a car that is different from the average Joe, and a Supercharged or TT 350Z seems to fit the bill.
One other quirk about my personality, I like to be an underdog, Ihate owning the best and feeling like a Dallas Cowboys Fan, a frontrunner that is.
Nothing like knocking down the ego of a $70,000+ car owner with your $30,000 little import.
Thanks for hearing me out,
Now let's get me rolling!!!

I know two guys who had 360-370whp on a ATI procharger or vortech SC with automatics and run 12.4's @112mph on normal street tires. The guy with the vortech says he runs 12.4-12.7 every single time he goes to the 1/4 mile and he shifts 500 rpms before redline.
The power is there, you just won't feel it every day that you drive it out on the street like you would with a turbo unless you downshift to get the rpms up high.
messing with belts sucks on SC and they have their own set of issues and are parasitic. Turbos often run hotter, need a turbo timer or you to babysit them to let the car cool down - at least on some models and can have boost spikes and be harder to troubleshoot and tune, rely on a electronic wastegate to keep the engine from blowing up vs a mechanical belt, etc. It's a big long debate.

If you've read some of the posts on here, you've probably realized that the decision between TT or SC is all about your personal preference and your goals for the car. I can tell you that I have recently gone the TT route (on a G, not a Z) after reading what seemed like every forum and piece of literature I could about turbo systems and superchargers. My personal experience may help...
After what seemed like months of reading, I decided to go APS. I basically came to the conclusion that all of the kits have ups and downs, but for me this was the best fit. I spoke to several shops and priced out the install ($2500 - $3000) and visited the couple I narrowed it down to. In the end, I decided to do the install myself (would not recommend this unless you are very competent under the hood of a car). Not really because I didn't think that the shops could handle the install, but because I had seen numerous stories of problems after install that I think were installer related, and I felt more comfortable having my hands on the entire process.
As for add on parts, I basically used the kit - $7500 (had to get some longer silicone joiners), replaced the clutch and flywheel - $1000, wideband o2 gauge / boost gauge / EGT gauge - $1000 and some miscellaneous fluids, clips, etc. - $250. I did not get a true dual exhaust, but would recommend using one - $1250. I drove the car for 500 miles and then had it dynoed and tuned. In the end I made 395rwhp on 93 octane, and the tune is very conservative.
The car runs great... starts right up, idles perfect, drives just as nice and as tame as before the install... until you step on the gas. The power is great and very useable. The car is a blast to drive now, and on sunny days I find myself driving my G instead of riding the motorcycle. I really can't get enough of it. I live just outside of Philly, so if you're curious about what this particular setup looks / sounds / feels like, let me know and maybe we can meet up. Hope this helps.

From my minor research so far a Procharger seems to be the simplest set-up, but not the best for performance.
