Default List of Vortech S/C Plans.

This thread is mainly for my reference so I can purchase and install a Vortech SuperCharger with a few minor upgrades. This will be performed on a 05' 350z Performance with less than 6k miles. I am located in Central California so it is going to be kind of a hassle choosing a shop seeing the nearest one is atleast 3 hours away. Please be patient and curtious in this thread seeing that I will be using it in the future and remember that I am new to the F/I world and will be constantly searching the boards for good threads to subscribe to. Thanks for all of your help. Your opinions and experiences are worth more than any mechanic can provide.

if you get the 53mm koyo radiator, your installer will have to trim the fan shrowds down - possible, but extra labor. Koyo also does make a 36mm V-core radiator (not 53mm) that drops right in with the vortech

how much are you boosting to need to upgrade the intercooler? I'd say you don't need the intercooler upgraded at all unless you're running the T-trim blower or maybe the 2.87 pulley - which sounds doubtful you are cause the 440 injectors will not be enough to fuel those setups anyway. So upgrading to a larger intercooler will actually cause you to lose power until you do. BTW you especially don't NEED to upgrade the intercooler if you're going to be running water injection anyway, which should work fine with the 2.87 pulley as is - and need 550 injectors

sentry65 I have been reading all of your threads and there is alot of good info on them. I am looking for 400-450 whp. I dont want to do any major motor upgrades just something solid for a dd. What would you suggest. I have a free mechanic that I will be using so I will have extra money for the upgrades that are needed to produce good numbers with the Vortech. All help is great cause I am a fresh fish.

1) Vortech S/C Kit-I am hoping that you mean the tuner kit
2) Koyo Radiatior-Don't need it unless you rev high for long time periods. Believe it or not, despite being a stock part, the OEM radiator is not bad.
3) Cooling Mist Water Injection-Why?
4) Upgrade Fuel System-Actually, even the in-line pump or a bigger injectors are Fuel System upgrades. Be more specific, please.
5) Crawford Cast Plenum-Finally a good idea. Just be ready to buy a different strup bar, as the OEM one won't fit.
6) Upgrade Intercooler-What for? The one inluded in the kit is good for, I believe 14PSI, but ask Booger. You'll blow your motor 10 times over before you hit that much boost.
7) Upgrade Belt-Like what, a stronger one?
8) 440c Injectors-This is good for about 450whp. I would actually use 550cc...
9) Walbro Fuel Pump-OK
10) E- Management-No such thing. There is E-manage by Greddy, but there are better options out there.
11) New Spark Plugs-OK
12) New Clutch-OK
13)Anyone help is great in this thread.-Hope this helps
14) What else do I need for the F/I? For Vortech you may want to get an oil pan spacer and tap it for the oil line...

Unless you wish to overpay for stuff you don't want, throw half this crap away from the list. If this is what your mechanic suggested that you do, go to someone else or at least put on some KY to make the penetration less painful.
Don't mean to bust you chops, but make sure you do all your research and then do mods...
Good luck.

I'll have to agree with Oleg for the most part . The stock IC is ok to about 12psi and thats what the 2.87 gets most guys . 440 injectors should be plenty big enough

Why do you want a SC? Not trying to sway you elsewhere, but would like to know your reason...

don't forget gauges

otherwise, you can throw more money at things and despite not NEEDING certain things, it never hurts to add things that can only add another layer of safety.

Yeah I'd get an oil pan or oil pan spacer - possibly oil cooler too while you're at it, though that's not really needed usually for most people

Yes I also plan to purchase these things. I wish there was a complete list. Do you think those 440 injectors would be good for 400-450whp?

if you want 450whp on a vortech you'll need 550 injectors. Don't believe me at your own risk/money, but I know first hand

I'm currently putting down 370whp on stock injectors, stock fuel pump, stock oil pan w/no spacer, etc etc. I have tracked the car and dragged the car and it hasn't skipped a beat once. I am probably at the limit of the injectors so if I were to do any more I would go up to 440cc injectors.

I haven't seen anyone mention exhaust ... cats are your biggest bottleneck so I would recommend either HFC's or test pipes and at least a 2.5" dual or 3" single exhaust.

I'm selling a set of 440cc injectors btw - $300, 1500 miles on them

but yeah, you don't want to run dangerous fuel pressure levels with injectors being too small

I'd say about $8700 to $9300 in parts would do it. Get the smaller pulley, 3.12 . From what i read, there is no reason not to get it.

yeah for $8700 you can get the vortech tuner kit, EMS, bigger injectors, 2.87 pulley, HFcats/test pipes, exhaust, plenum, and installation/tuning for an easy 400whp

I got a quote of $4675.00 plus shipping for the Vortech Polished Kit from Paul at Avalon. I asked him about package deals that he could put together for the Vortech like bigger injectors, EMS, ect and he said to get a list of parts together and he will see what he can come up with. I am going to shop around. I am going to get the HKS Exhaust, Crawford Polished Plenum (No Strut Bar is gonna suck!!) and some wheels too. I have a good mechanic that works for Coors Light so I think we will be doing the install and taking it to Z Car Garage to have them check everything over and do a final tuning. Any suggestions before I start this long and expensive project. I wasn't quite looking to spend $10,000 but it sounds like after it is all done I will be pretty close. I think I can shave that down a little with my own install of parts. Thinks I should change the cams if I am going to be doing the fuel injectors? How bout a bigger fuel pump? Thanks for all of your help and input. I want this done right and I think if Ijust go drop it off at a tuner shop I will get screwed really hard.
